I'm pretty sure I've heard from the Madden crew in past years go on about how they improved running and footwork. Wasn't that what locomotion was about?

Locomotion was a Madden 11 feature...3 games ago. So now it's being improved again.

I suppose they should improve running once and then never do it again? Of course this shit is going to constantly be improved, it would be retarded if they didn't continue to come back to things like player movement and build on it.


The same dumb comments from the same people who don't even play the game. Madden 10/11/12/13...none of them play the same, at all.

Promotional videos always over blow the features to showcase them, nothing that can't be adjusted which was the same case as this year. I don't think the hardcore player is the target audience anyways.

What you don't see in the video is swerve running (anyone who's played the game would have seen this, like you, right?), which has been one of the worst aspects of this game for forever. That change alone is quite welcome and should have a large impact on both sides of the ball in game play.

Stumbling bothers me because it seems like it'll cause for that "fall forward for 5 yards" bullshit that's plagued the running game for the past few editions.
 
I personally would like to see some type of tackling logic. I still don't like some of the trucks I've see especially the one where the guy reacts like he is getting shot with a 12 gauge.
 
Agreed about the shotgun blast tackling. I imagine it will take NG hardware to flesh out physics further and get this proper.

Still prefer it to canned animations.
 
The stiff arms and trucks aren't canned animations? I feel like when we get our hands on the game it won't matter what position your defender is in(nor whether he's bigger, faster, and/or lower) than the ball carrier.

I don't like how the defenders are falling everytime the ball carrier hits some kind of move. Although it probably needs to be taken under consideration that this is a promotional video and the game is probably being played on a very low difficulty level to try to illustrate the "effectiveness" of these new moves. I think the important thing in all this is going to be the defense's pursuit angles assuming "footplanting" is real. fwiw they obviously aren't going to show swerve running in a promotional video when it's been stated they've taken it out of the game.

the 2K football game from 2004 had more ball carrier moves than Madden today (so did Madden 07 on the Xbox and ps2 consoles). So it's something that has probably needed to be adressed for years. 2K's ballcarrier vision was great though because ALL of their moves worked. There's probably 25-30 different moves one can do with the right stick alone and they all take advantage of angles. In the 2K games defender's feet were always planted to the ground, there was no ice skating, so you could count on your angles if a defender was overpursuing and you could effectively take advantage of it. I'm skeptical of seeing something similar in Madden because of some of these promotional videos with both the NFL game and the NCAA game.


Check out the 11 second mark of this promotional trailer for the NCAA football game. The Texas A&M Defender looks like he's standing on a turn table. That's not foot planting IMO. The defender should be breaking down, chopping his feet, etc. Instead he turns his body at a significant angle while on one foot. This is going to be annoying because your eyes are going to lie to you, angles that you see aren't actually there. I think it's significant to note that NCAA and Madden are both touting this "footplanting" Technology and the Infinity engine, so I expect to see some similar things between the games within the coming months.

I like the ideas in principle but am skeptical about their implementation into the games.

I might be mistaken but im pretty sure that on madden's current engine, everything is a canned animation, just depends how many there are and what triggers them to be used.

A WR comes in on a slant route, the LB undercuts the tackle and takes out the CB's legs allowing the WR to get free. No canned animation happens there for example, CB will bowl over the LB as he dives into the grass.

Weight/height in the first edition of physics was very raw and in most cases not functional. That seems to be the biggest feature of the 2.0 version of this engine.

Over 11 years of Madden foruming with you guys and some of you STILL fall for the hype every year. There's ways one guy who is the dreamer who actually thinks this is the year.
In case you've missed the news EA Madden has been outed for the shit level development it truly is. In 8 years of this console gen not once have they gotten it right. There's a new console gen coming this version is likely getting the usual half assed attention treatment most games get at this point.

Anyways let's be real it's been a total shit covered cockfest for almost a decade. I'll be happy with a *backup* copy that'll keep me entertained for a few games before all the glaring Ai issues make me quit again.

I never said a word about 2k in that post and I'm in large part speaking of the one on one situations.

It's going to be annoying when/if you run into situations where you have a defender coming down with a legitimate momentum advantage and you see these animations play out because someone's "trucking" rating is higher.

I also think it may be frustrating to still not be able to trust what you see from defender's body positions. As evidenced earlier. The missed tackle animation played out and what should have been a clean spin move turns into this weird animation driven broken tackle

Like I said earlier it will be interesting to play the demo.

I'd rather buy '03 and play Rushing Attack for hours than touch any of these Madden Moments.

Over 11 years of Madden foruming with you guys and some of you STILL fall for the hype every year. There's ways one guy who is the dreamer who actually thinks this is the year.
In case you've missed the news EA Madden has been outed for the shit level development it truly is. In 8 years of this console gen not once have they gotten it right. There's a new console gen coming this version is likely getting the usual half assed attention treatment most games get at this point.

Anyways let's be real it's been a total shit covered cockfest for almost a decade. I'll be happy with a *backup* copy that'll keep me entertained for a few games before all the glaring Ai issues make me quit again.

Nobody is falling for anything. Those who play it accept the game is for what it is, it's a video game, not real life. Everyone wants sports games to be 100% real life and if even for a moment it isn't, they would rage snap the disc and everything is terrible about it. Sports games will always be video games, not real life, if you can handle that mind blowing fact then you can simple enjoy the game for what it is rather than crying over the shade of the 49ers helmets.

Again, nobody in 22T or TGT are falling for anything. We all have a hell of a lot of fun playing 100's of games year round. Everyone who's in our community here is most certainly getting their $60 worth.


What's funny to me is that most if not all sports games, are no different in this regard.

NHL is a retarded joke where physics are completely broken (ask anyone who plays it about body checking and watch the rage fly), the game AI is pathetic, most of the penalties have been removed (and will be a new feature in the future), Offline GM AI is utterly retarded...and everyone can deke the pants off the goalie using the same move that's been in the game since NHL 94.

FIFA is nothing but trick shots and speed whoring by chipping the retarded AI defenders. There's absolutely no fouls. Be A Pro is mind numbing because the AI is so simple minded and just passes the ball back and forth for half the game.

Tiger Woods is piss easy, default create a pro golfer and you'll shoot -20 without even trying.

I don't play NBA but all I've heard is the game has zero representation of defence.

For whatever reason Madden takes the heat the worst, which isn't to say it's undeserving of criticism but I don't get what makes other games so special when they are equally fucking ridiculous as simulation sports in the exact same regard.





I never said a word about 2k in that post and I'm in large part speaking of the one on one situations.

I mentioned 2K to explain that games are all the same.

It's going to be annoying when/if you run into situations where you have a defender coming down with a legitimate momentum advantage and you see these animations play out because someone's "trucking" rating is higher.

Explain how you differentiate players strictly based on physics. Does that mean the smallest players are then the fastest? The biggest players truck everyone, every time?

I also think it may be frustrating to still not be able to trust what you see from defender's body positions. As evidenced earlier. The missed tackle animation played out and what should have been a clean spin move turns into this weird animation driven broken tackle

I wouldn't read much into the promo video's, they are usually shown on rookie to showcase the feature (in this instance, the moves. What kind of marketing would it be if all the RB's were tackled when trying to show off their new skill set? :walker:)
Need some perspective when viewing these things.










As for the intro's, for the love of god I want an option in the settings to skip it all. Nothing worse than waiting for all that shit to load/skip through, ADD kicks in, you turn your head for a moment then the game starts loading a CPU demo game and you have to wait all over again. :rage:

Madden takes the worst of it because of how they've monopolized their particular sport.
