Madden '13 is looking strong out of the gate. The real story will be how it looks at the end of September though. There appears to be a huge uplift in people going online this season (28% over last year) which could be tied into offline franchise people opting to have their franchise as an online version so that they can take advantage of tuning updates over the course of the season.

Madden NFL 13 sets franchise record day one sales

Electronic Arts announced today a huge first day for Madden NFL 13, which launched Tuesday across North America.

Based on internal estimates, sell-through for Madden NFL 13 was up 7 percent year-over-year on HD platforms with 900K units sold in its first 24 hours on the market, its best start ever on this console generation. The franchise also set a day one online usage record with a 28 percent jump in peak simultaneous users over last year’s first day.

“It was a phenomenal first day for Madden NFL 13, and we have high expectations for this great game to be popular throughout the fall and into the holidays,” said Seong Ohm, Walmart SVP of Entertainment. “We’re excited that our partnership with EA has helped deliver our customers unique access and content to this great game. There's incredible demand for Madden NFL 13, and it's easy to see why people are loving it.”

is this because its a great game or because of great marketing? EA is the master of marketing. Time will tell if this is a great game or not
 
To be fair, that is pretty shitty. Maybe I'm missing it, but can you only do franchise with default rosters? I tried to start one yesterday and couldn't even use the updated rosters. (this was online for what it's worth)
 
We already know EA will sell a shit ton of Maddens every year but it has very little to do with the game being great. Its the only football game on the market and its shoved down every football fans throat on ESPN, NFL Network and any other channel that caters to our demographic.

I'm crossing my fingers that this is true.....

I think Madden 13 is a solid game....the best version we've seen on the latest consoles.

It is going to be very interesting to see how this series develops down the road now with the IE in place. This years game for me is just a pick up and play now game and hopefully EA does exactly what you mentioned bring back the editing features to the game.
 
Week 1 sales posted at 1.65 million copies, which is 8% up over week 1 Madden '12 numbers.

The second Madden NFL 13 roster update will be available for download on the Xbox 360 and PS3 on Saturday morning. The update will reflect the final 53 man rosters of all 32 NFL teams. Details regarding the update will be available Friday morning.

The initial 75 man preseason rosters that were released with Madden NFL 13 will continue to be available for offline and online Connected Careers so that fans who want to manage the final roster of their team can do so. Final 53 man rosters will also be made available early next week for offline and online Connected Careers giving users the choice to use either roster when starting their Connected Careers experience.

Welcome to the site. You should probably post this in the Fantasy Football area instead of a Madden NFL discussion thread.
 
I've yet to play next-gen Madden because franchise wasn't up to snuff. Is it true you can't import NCAA draft classes or use customized rosters in franchise? What a rip-off.
 
why would you take a feature like importing draft classes out of a game? and why cant u edit rosters or use fantasy drafts for franchise? again, these are features that have been there for like 20 years
