That is true...esp. for this game. The story telling quality in this game is top notch.

i dont mind linear at all. I just dont like cut scene driven games. Although like ryne said, i heard the story is excellent and the production value of the cut scenes is superb

I don't understand the "hate" these days for linear games. It's not like open world is better than linear, it's just a different way to play a game. You get much better stories/campaigns from linear games anyways.

Yeah, I really don't mind it all. Open world games have their place definitely but there's no problem with a linear type game like this. It's not wire linear like PS2 Medal of Honor where you can't go beyond a wall, but it forces you to do certain missions which I see absolutely no problem with. Keeps the story in focus.

They are VERY well done. Like I said, I wasn't disinterested during any part of them, good voice acting, good production, camera movement, etc. There is just A LOT of them. Not sure if that's how the rest of the game will be, but like I said first hour or so of playing I only had a good 20-30 minutes of actual gameplay... so take that for what it's worth.

You're right. I mean, it's flawless backdrop to what you are doing, as opposed to games of the past where the "invisible" wall appears or whatever, which is always a deterrent to the immersiveness of a title.

I'd anticipate DLC to help utilize their work tho, seems a waste of production resources if there's much of the city unused.

Got my hands on it today, looking forward to playing tonight.

Not only does it seem like a waste to have an "open world" and not take advantage of it but I am an absolute sucker for open world and sandbox games. They seem to suck me in more than any other.

Does anyone know how much more you can see and do with the PS3 version? I read somewhere that there are 25 extra missions? Can anyone confirm or deny? That seems crazy!

i read it was just 1 extra mission, or DLC you can get open getting the game


does anyone know if you can do stuff after you finish the game? like GTA had birds, and jumps and stuff

also, whats the replay value?

on one of the video reviews they said the ps3 has a 'bunch' of side missions exclusive to the ps3. And also said they are very good. now idk what a bunch is but i would like to find out.

im gonna watch them again...its probably the gamespot review. They seemed to really like the game

EDIT...he said day 1 DLC which is a series of side missions...no help

Apparently there are TWENTY FIVE extra missions.

I'll take a little graphical infidelity with 25 extra missions any day. Although I have read that there aren't any added trophies with the bonus DLC. Weak.

I'm still waiting on a $40 price point though.

It looks like the Betrayal of Jimmy is the DLC you get for free on the PS3. Jimmy's Vendetta is another chuck of DLC that will be released later for a price and apparently will have trophies.

Got up to Chapter 15 but I'm not going to be able to finish it this weekend. I woke up Friday early morning with stomach pains...went to ER, turns out it is Kidney Stones. They are keeping me over the weekend and possible do a simple procedure Monday to remove them. As far as the game is concerned, I heard the ending leaves DLC possible in the future.

Exactly why my price point is $40. I have no problem supporting developers that make good games but don't bone me in the ass with a full price game that doesn't have full content.

Hell, if both of those Jimmy DLC's came on the disc, and maybe one more chunk of content I'd buy it today. Fuck, if it was real open world I'd buy it today.

I'm starting to see it really is real open world though to an extent. You always have a single mission on your hud but you don't really have to do it, you can get cars for scraps, shop, eat, etc.
