Green Bay should have jumped on Lynch.
Yeah, he's a knucklehead off the field, but when he's on the field, the guy goes all-out.
I feel bad for him going to Seattle. As a bit of a Buffalo fan (they're my AFC team), I would have loved to see what he could have done with a real contender like Green Bay.

After seeing what was given up, I cant believe TT didn't pull the trigger a long time ago. I wonder if the Bills lowered their asking price since then.

Now that I think about it more, there is no way the Packers will get DeAngelo Williams. If TT can't give up a 4th and a conditional pick for Lynch, there is no way he'll bite on Williams.

Reports are the Packers are looking at Brandon Jacobs right now. Not sure how I feel about it yet, but I do know it will be better than anything Jackson can produce on 1st and 2nd down.

Stewart is too much like Grant. Same with Lynch.

DeAngelo is a change of pace from Grant. While the other two would be great to have share time, but you'd be giving the same look with either on the field.

In terms of "the big picture." TT isn't a get-rich-quick kind of guy.

Fanball.com reported that the Packers did make an offer for Lynch but weren't willing to offer a 3rd after Seattle offered a 4th.

Williams is in the last year of his contract with Carolina so there is a possibility he could walk next season so thats why if they did trade any of the RBs it would be Williams, but I couldn't see them get rid of him without something big in return.

Funny you mention that, because before training camp I made a bet with a friend that Starks would score more touchdowns this year than Grant. It might actually happen haha..

Pretty much in agreeance. I am livid. I've been a fairly big TT supporter over the years. He has set the team up nicely for years to come. The only things I have ever been pissed about were missing on Moss, and the inability to create a decent O Line. This has me furious though.

I've heard it said before and I am starting to agree. TT is a good GM. He is capable of building teams for sustained success. But I think he lacks the ability (whether it be smarts or nads) to do what it takes to take the next step and do what it takes to become a championship caliber team. The Lynch trade was a fucking layup and he missed it. Even if it was a 3rd rounder, it was going to be a late one if we are as good as TT must think we are. Plus we are almost guaranteed a comp 3rd rounder for losing Kampman.

He has definitely put a bullseye on his head, again. If the Vikings somehow come back and take the division or even if the Packers fail later in the season on account of their lack of running game, TT is going to take major heat in GB. I'll be one of the first in line to call for his head and tell him thanks for setting us up nicely for years but its time to move on to somoene who understands what it takes to take the next step.

And there is no chance we get Williams from the Panthers unless the last day has put the fear of god in TT. But thats not likely. TT's ego won't allow that.

Panthers are much more willing to get rid of Williams. They are trying to rebuild and Stewart is only 23. Williams was the only one of the four backs in Carolina that the Panthers were willing to give up. I would love Stewart, but the Panthers simply won't get rid of him.

The Panthers also said they would like to wait until the Saints and Bears game to see how they play. They said if they lose both games, they will be listening to offers for Williams. Now I don't know whether to root for the Bears winning another game, or the Panthers beating their ass. I don't feel like we're getting Williams either way so we'll have to wait and see.

All I'm hearing about right now is a trade involving Brandon Jacobs from the Giants. I wouldn't mind him taking snaps on 1st and 2nd down, with Jackson taking the snaps on 3rd down passing situations. I would much rather have Lynch or Williams, but I'll take what I can get at this point. Any move is pretty much an upgrade over Jackson and Kuhn.

Who would you rather have for the past 3 years though....Jennings, Driver, Finley, and Moss......or Jennings, Driver, Finley, and Allen Barbre. 90% of fans have no idea who Barbre even is. While I'm happy with our current receiver corp, it could be even nastier. Imagine what Jennings could do in the slot.

Correct.

I am have been over the Moss thing for some time. Things worked out. Just pointing it out as one of the few times I have been really angry with Thompson. I was really upset that day.

3 years from now I may feel the same way about this.

I am just worried, like I said, that TT doesn't know how to get over the hump. I enjoy that we're set to be a good team for a while, but that means diddly squat to me if there's no SB in there. I am not satisfied with just being good. Maybe TT will prove me wrong. I sincerely hope he does.

Charles Woodson thought it was stupid not to get Lynch as well. Not a big vote of confidence for the front office coming from one of the leaders in the locker room.

Packers cornerback Charles Woodson was asked today on the Jim Rome radio show what the thought about the Packers not trading for former Buffalo Bills running back Marshawn Lynch:

"I thought with the way things shaked out with our team it would be a logical thing for us to do to get another big-time back like Marshawn Lynch. And it didn't pan out," Woodson said. "For players, there's nothing you can do but go out there and play football with the guys you've got."

I don't care about the Moss crap. Anytime a GM starts appeasing diva players such as Favre there is going to be trouble. Lynch for a third should have been a done deal though considering how much of an upgrade he would have been. Has everyone in the front office in Green Bay already forgotten how much he was killing their defense week 2?

The fact that they haven't even brought anybody off the street for a tryout speaks volumes at this point. TT still isn't ready to give up on Brandon Jackson who was one of his picks and a bust in the second round at that. I'm still a TT supporter based on how he stood down Favre a couple years ago but this just confuses me.
