Yea on the 30th, Mass Effect 2 will be $45 straight up without having to buy anything else.

Looks like I'll be getting it in 2 weeks then.

Mass Effect 2 is one of the best games on PlayStation 3 and a must-own. It has a deep, fleshed-out story and focuses intensely on character development, which will appeal to RPG fans. Its non-linear approach, choice making and reliance on gray areas gives advocates of the sandbox-style game a reason to delve in. Its solid third-person shooting combat isn’t only functional, but stronger than many dedicated third-person shooters and a reason for shooter and action fans to get in on the fun. Not only do you have a game that’s already running on the engine for the upcoming Mass Effect 3, but you have a game packed with DLC and access to an in-game comic book that explains the game’s story to those new to Mass Effect. But don’t remain new to Mass Effect for long. Mass Effect 2 is a game that you should purchase, play, and enjoy. And you should do so as soon as time allows.

Navigating the game’s menus and features is seamless. The ease of using the in-game menus shines through exceptionally well when navigating the game’s deep conversations.

Mass Effect 2 was a beautiful game the first time around, and it still looks great. Perhaps even better now that it’s running on Mass Effect 3’s engine.
9.0 Sound
The music, where it exists, is great. What's even better is the voice acting, which is, for the most part, artfully done. It’s amazing that virtually all dialogue in the game is fully voice-acted.
9.5 Gameplay
As a third-person shooter, Mass Effect 2 is a lot of fun. When you combine the game’s many other elements into the mix, you have one stellar, well-playing package.
10 Lasting Appeal
Few games have the lasting appeal factor that Mass Effect 2 does. This is a title that absolutely requires you to play through at least twice to see everything... and you’ll be glad you did.

Thats why I already said I will probably get it.

Being on ps3 has nothing to dowith it though. I had zero interest in the first one because it sounded like it was too RPG for me and didnt want to jump into the second one missing the first. But now that you can still get the gist of the first with the comic and jump straight into 2, which looks to be more up my alley, I will probably give it a go.

.....It's unfortunate that some players will either miss or have to pay $15 extra for the only content unique to this version because it isn't included on the disc. Luckily, the packaged code gives you access to other free content that was also released for other platforms, such as the short Firewalker mission pack.

Got this a few hours ago... I can finally retire Dragon Age for a while.

EDIT:

Found it useful that EA and Bioware would put the game manual onto the disc itself.

While EA claims that it's to save paper (never really seen them come out and say this in any other two-page manual they've put out for their games), it's still a step up considering that most of us ignore manuals in the first place when we dive into games like these.

A download code? That's so fucking dumb. The only purpose is so EA can avoid used sales because you know damn well all the shit fits on the disc. So dumb.

And FYI, I saw on Joystiq that the Cerberus (sp?) Network is fucked up already. EA and Sony are working on a fix but obviously without that you can't even view the comic.

u guys have to stop thinking of this game as an RPG. think of it as an open world sandbox style game with a deep story, excellent missions and side missions that can be done in the order you choose. With awesome action, graphics and voice acting.

its no different than a game like GTA or RDR when it comes to how you play it. The only difference between ME2 and RDR is that you decide how the story is going to play out

what really annoys me is people that will sit thru MGS4 and its 30-90 min cutscenes but they wont sit thru a 10 Min scene in this game where you actually get to drive the story by choosing dialog

Truth.

There are few games of this quality, with minimal flaws, exceptional DLC....it just goes on and on.

I hope the movie is ready for when ME3 releases, cannot wait for information to drop on that.

I have a few playthroughs, first time I used the default shep, but subsequent playthroughs I would use a diff one, or a chick one just to trigger lesbian scenes.

Finally got Cerberus DLC and free Terminus pack off of PSN...

Debating one whether or not to get one of the other armor/weapons DLCs as well so that all-in-one DLC for $8 seems like a deal.
