Matt Holliday in New York?

Matt Holliday can only hope one of the New York franchises is willing to jump into the ring for his services, and the Mets could give him that wish.

According to SI.com's Jon Heyman, the Mets are one of the teams that will jump into the fray or the services of the current Cardinals star. A sticking point, of course, could be the spacious dimensions of Citi Field, but Holliday's line drive approach, and his ability to hit in St. Louis, where the dimensions aren't conducive to huge numbers, might provide some comfort. That and a fat offer.

I half agree with this. I have no idea where he will go, but the Mets would have to really pay to get him to come to play for them. Why play for a team if you can't perform at your best for them?

Shame that the Mets announced they would not lower the wall heights, but hopefully that means it will attract some decent pitchers.

ESPN does this all the time. All their writers are New York, Boston, or LA fans so they make this stuff up out of nowhere. Like earlier this year Peter Gammons was going crazy that the Tigers were going to trade Cabrera to Boston and their manager just laughed at him. They do this all the time. The guy who wrote that is just a Mets fan who wants Holliday. "It would be tempting with a fat contract" Well the Marlins could offer fat contract to a get him. Pointless stuff from ESPN.

The fact of the matter is that the Mets, Dodgers, Yankees, Red Sox, and Angles are some of the biggest spenders in the majors. The Marlins could offer him a huge contract, but what is more realistic, the Marlins offering a huge contract or a team from NY, LA, or the Red Sox?

You missed the point. That article says that the big stadium or whatever and a fat contract could be appealing to Holliday. Well heres the thing, I could say the same thing about 28 other big league teams. Thats just what there writers do when they want a big player for their ballclub.

Like Gammons said the Tigers chances of trading Cabrera were extremely high if they were in last place and werent drawing crowds (tigers also had the majority of the tickets sold when he said that) and that those things would make the Tigers trade him to Boston and how close this deal is to reality! He makes it sound so legit to everybody. Then the Tigers manager comes out and says that Gammons has no idea what hes talking about and that Cabrera wouldnt be traded if the Tigers were 0-162. All writers do this!

Mitch Albom could take the report about Holliday and replace Mets with Tigers, and everything else would still be relevant because these articles are based off fanhood and no facts what so ever. Then people go crazy about how close the Mets are to landing him. Lol.

What were the Red Sox looking for earlier this season? A 1B or 3B with power. Are the Red Sox willing to pay? Yes, they are. With the extra pitching the Sox had, I'm pretty sure they could have put together an ok deal for the Tigers. There's never a GREAT deal when a superstar is involved. The Manny deal has worked out, but originally everyone thought the Sox took a huge offensive hit (which they have a little bit, but not much, comparing Manny's 2007 stats to Bay's 2009 stats).

First, Pedroia, Ellsbury, and Bay do not have huge contracts, by the way. Loweel and Varitek are the ones with the bigger contracts. That was not what I was saying at all. Now, we can see in the first bold statement that I agree that the Red Sox would be willing to pay for a guy like Miggy, depending on what was asked for in return. In the second bold statement, I say that the Tigers wouldn't just stand pat and not do anything if they are cellar dwellers. This leaves open the possibility for old veterens to be traded, but no one specific is named. There goes another argument of yours. Statement number three shows that I never thought Miggy would be traded.
