Bush is a great 1-2 punch back and can look as good as any RB at times but does seem to struggle a bit when teams focus on him but with Cutler throwing the ball he might not worry about that

And that may end up being a bad contract. Look at CJ last season. That's what the Bears are trying to avoid. The RB position is not what it used to be. Teams are splitting carries and the shelf life of a RB is shorter than it's ever been. Considering all of that, the contract that FT posted is more than generous for a #1 RB.

Gore was 3 years and around 21 million $13.5 guaranteed

MJD was 5yr 31million with $17.5 million guaranteed

If the reports are true the Bears are pretty well right in that range with the offer to Forte. They are on the lower side(Gore) of the guaranteed money but on the high side of the annual dollars(Gore). Forte likely wants something more along the lines of the MJD deal but..the gore contract isn't a low ball comparison.

And he was already offered contracts in the neighborhood of MJD and Frank Gore. He wants more. That's his damn problem. It's not like he was never offered a good LTC.

Well, at least there's a competent back up in town now and not shit stache Caleb Hanie.

Look at the deals for AP, CJ, and DeAngelo Williams that were signed last year. All of those are looking like bad deals right now and I think a lot of GMs are looking at those deals and laughing. I'm so happy that the Bears aren't mortgaging their future by paying a RB a ridiculous amount of money.

Hey I'm not doubting that, he just wants what he wants. The window is small to get paid for an RB because they are becoming more easily replaced and their shelf life was never very long to begin with.

The Chicago Sun-Times expects the four-year, $32 million deal signed by Marshawn Lynch to be the "floor" in extension talks between the Bears and Matt Forte.
Lynch's deal included $18 million guaranteed, and Forte would stand to make roughly $17 million the next two seasons if franchised again in 2013. The surprisingly reasonable extension signed by Arian Foster (five years, $43.5 million, $20.75 million guaranteed) could help spur talks between the sides. Age should be taken into consideration.

I'm pretty disappointed that the Raiders couldn't keep Bush. They really need him. Taiwan Jones is going to be injured his whole career. DMC isn't exactly reliable, either, he gets hurt every season.

Bush was something we could count on. While decent running backs seem easy to come across, it's not easy to find someone that is durable and doesn't turn the ball over. Bush is as solid and reliable as it gets. He is that type of back that doesn't fumble and rarely ever gets hit for a loss.

From what I've heard, he's an all around good guy and great teammate. Carson Palmer was quoted saying the Raiders need to tag Bush because he is vital and he only played with him for half a season pretty much.

I wish nothing but the best for him, hope he does well in Chicago.
