I hate how everytime a player holds out, and fans hate on them, they are anti-player. I am pro-player, and them getting a fair deal, but I am also pro-contract in that if you signed something, you are agreeing to it. And lets be up front, in football, the 'man's sport', what kind of fucking man signs a deal, giving someone their word that they will play under those terms and then cries like a bitch because he wants more.

You know the team will cut the player first chance they get if he gets hurt or the production declines. So, why shouldn't the player do what he can to get as much money possible in his few years he can earn it?

There is a fine line between being greedy and trying to get what you deserve. Revis for example just got a new deal but already wants a new one.

Players like Forte who made 200k last year and was top 5 in yards from scrimmage and made the pro-bowl you don't think that would deserve a raise? Especially in a league where you're only gonna play for a few years.

Football seems to be the only sport you hear this shit in. Players have a good season in other sports and they don't hold out for a new contract. The NFL (to my knowledge) is the only major league that allows its players to do a new deal. If more owners started to say "you signed the deal, that is what you get" then this wouldn't be an issue. But to many guys give in way to often.

As I said before, I hate the "trying to get as much out while they can." as an excuse for this. Look at Chris Johnson. Guy held out for a new deal and finally got it. Then he sucked for half the season and was no where even close to the CJ he was the year before. Maybe the Titans should have asked for a new deal...you know, to get what they can out of it." Seems only fair that if the players do it, the owners should be as well.

He should but the league will continue w/o that player. He can "try" to get more money but if he does, it's because the team is doing him a favor...not because he "won."

I wouldn't say one is doing the other a favor. It's a mutual agreement. The team wants the player, player wants to be on the team. Simple as that. Sometimes the team will cave and give the player the contract he wants (worked for Emmitt Smith in 1993) but most of the time the player is wasting his time.
