I thought Kemp was the most dangerous hitter this year, but I wouldn't argue with someone who thought it was Braun, and Braun obviously has the edge if you are the type who factors in "valuable" in the literal sense.

I won't be offended unless one of those two doesn't win. Nobody else has a case.

I just see very close numbers. Kemp hit 6 more home runs, 15 more RBI's, and struck out 66 more times. Kemp went through the 2nd half with nothing to lose, Braun did it in important games down to the final game of the season. I put a lot of weight into that.

None of Kemp's hits meant anything in the 2nd half, while Braun delivered a 3-run bomb to clinch the division for the Brewers. I would have no problem giving Kemp the MVP. He had an MVP caliber season, but the voters haven't felt the same way to a player on a losing team. I think A-Rod was the last to do it in 2005 with the Rangers. Both players are MVP worthy, but the voters go with winners. IMO, Braun was more valuable, Kemp was most outstanding.

The Dodgers missed the playoffs. They would have missed it without him too.

If the Dodgers were at least in some kind of race, I would assume the voting would be closer. I just don't see it happening personally. We'll find out soon enough though.

Like anyone could possibly know that. The Brewers were built to be pretty damn good with or without Braun. They did happen to have the best staff and bullpen in the division, and the rest of the Central was down this year with the Reds underachieving and the Cardinals suffering injuries. There's a good chance that the Brewers make the playoffs either way, IMO.

HOWEVA... the whole "value only matters for playoff teams" argument is so colossally stupid that I'm tired of reading or hearing it. Value is value. A homeless person with a $100 bill still has that $100 bill. You can't say it's not worth 100 because he's only gonna buy crack with it anyway. It's still worth 100 bucks like Kemp was worth 9-10 wins.

Without Kemp the Dodgers finish 10 games under. Thanks to him (and Kershaw, and absolutely nothing else) they finished a few games over. How is that not valuable? The difference between a winning season and a losing one isn't of value? Should the Dodgers' season be stricken from the record? Should the 22 teams which did not make the playoffs have all of their games wiped out?

That's stupid.
