MLB Playoff Format Changing?

The rumor is MLB may change the divisional playoff schedule to accommodate the additional game. Instead of playing a 2-2-1 series, it may change to a 2-3, in order to eliminate a travel day.

In my opinion this is fucking ridiculous, teams play all season without days for travel, why do they need it in the playoffs? If they want to eliminate a travel day, fine. But stick with the 2-2-1.

Ignoring the addition of 2 more wildcard teams, are you in favor of or against this possible change in the divisional round structure?

Lower seed gets first two, finish the series with the final 3 games at the higher seed.

Huge advantage for lower seed.

Honestly, I probably couldn't have told you the current format off the top of my head if you had asked me, so I can't pretend this bothers me.

I dont think home field is as pronounced in baseball as it is in other sports, so I don't think it's a big deal.

In a further complication, both sides reached a consensus that ties for division titles would be broken on the field with a tiebreaker game under the new format, and not by head-to-head record.

Head-to-head record has been used since 1995 to determine first place if both teams are going to the post-season. But the sides decided that with the start of a one-game, winner-take-all wild-card round, the difference between first place and a wild-card berth is too important to decide with a formula and that a tiebreaker game should be played.

It reverts back to the usual in 2013.

The union wanted less travel since the rest of the schedule was done already. Sigh, unions.

Why are you ignoring the addition of the two wildcard teams? That's the whole reason they're doing it. All things equal, it's be a terrible idea, but they're only doing it for this season because of the hasty addition of the two wildcard teams, then switching back next year and beyond. At least that's what I understood when I first heard the rumors.

Because I'm not asking if people are for or against the addition of two wildcard teams.

I'm asking if they're ok with the bs change in scheduling.

I get that, but that's why they need to have the funky schedule this way. Would you prefer it be delayed until next year? You can't have it both ways.*
