I'm sacrificing defense for his bat if it means we're not trotting out Pete Kozma and company every day.
But to actually respond to this "he doesn't play good defense" claim/meme, Peralta gets too much gripe for his fielding. He makes up for his lack of range by position himself in good spots and is as sure-handed as they come, but because he's fat and was bumped to LF by the Tigers for the playoffs last season, he's automatically a botch defensively.
Not to mention, most of the criticism on here about "bad" defensive shortstops comes from a fan who has the best defensive player in baseball playing SS for his team.
