MLB The Show '11 League?

Were are a little over six weeks out on this game (the penultimate sports game IMO). The mention of a "VSN League" has been mentioned in previous threats. We all know about the drama, b.s., tragedies that went down last year. Kudos to W2B for stepping up in our time of need. But what's past is past. The time is drawing near.

It's time for the boys of spring to step forward and be heard! Who is planning on jumping on the VSN SHOW bandwagon this time around????? I, for one, really enjoy the competiton of the guys around here. I have previously posted I am hoping that WE do NOT go for a full 30-team league. Too many guys, too many headaches. I have also posted I am in favor of a shorter season as well. Hey, my 2-cents.

I hope this generates some interest around here! We need our own FORUM!!!

Besides a handful of madden leagues, has a VSN league in any sport ever been completed? Seems like 95% or more fail within the first two months.

first season TGT was pretty dam successful, the problem is there are always these guys that sign up in leagues and say: "I'm very active, I LOVE THIS GAME! Please let me in" and then a week and a half later when they have a losing record "Actually I have something to do, too much school/wife/tranny hooker handjobs/etc <insert another excuse>" And that's how it goes south.

that first season was a success because we only had guys who were dedicated. 16 owners, 22 game plus the post season.

and these pre release threads about interest always turn out how oobl described. a bunch of guys wet themselves about playing in the league so it expands to full 30 and then its turns into drop outs and replacements the rest of the way....of course a forum that is stable also helps

I say we stick with 16 owners no matter how long the waiting list gets. I'd rather have people waiting on the list than people waiting for their opponent that quit days before the game. That way we have plenty of replacements if ever needed. In with the Brew Crew

Whoever decides to run one, come to me for input as far as who is reliable, who is a flake, and everyone in between. I have a long memory, and I remember the circumstances of every person who left. I know who fucked us over, and I know who left but would have stuck around had the site nonsense been stable. I know who makes an effort to play, and I know the guys who duck and dodge and hold shit up. I still have all of my notes, too.

If we are selective and not afraid to hurt feelings, there is no doubt it can be successful because the core guys who play are great guys, mature, and love the game.

This is VSN. If we're not hurting someone's feelings, we're not doing it right.

I know I have never played in any of the leagues on VSN so I'm more than willing to sit on the waiting list if there are reliable people that have proven themselves in previous leagues here. I believe you have to earn respect in leagues before given shots you don't deserve. I personally hate first come first serve, especially in situations when the league is already shrinking users to promote reliability.

I am always good for leagues if the damn game is playable online. Each year with MLB they talk about fixing online but the fuckin pitch meter is still absolute shit online. Its the same thing with Madden really in a way except the gameplay in madden is what is shitty and MLB only really has an issue with the pitch meter lag. Speaking of which has RusselSCEA mentioned anything about improving the netcode?

You're right for the most part, but I think MLB was just fucked over last year with all the website stupidity. MLB has worked for us in the past and should have no problem this year.




I don't see why we can't have a "group" effort to run this league, but if we plan to use the in-game mode this year I'm not sure how many commish's it will allow.

Running an MLB league is pretty simple compared to other leagues I've done in the past, so there's not much work that has to be done outside of making sure people play games.

But again, using the in-game shit we'll have to decide our rules upon simming games that take too long to get played and things like that.

Personally from my own experience (well, basically how I got 4 successfull consecutive Madden seasons to roll), is to have a HARD schedule and sim whatever doesn't get done in time, no excuses.

If we have some straight up, clear cut guidelines that allow the league to flow and rewards those who try (rather than annoys them by waiting on slackers), then the commish work is nearly non existant. The league would run itself, we just need a guy or two to press some buttons here and there.

1 thing I love about the show is how the rosters are updated each week where guys on the DL get placed in the minors and cant play online which forces you to make adjustments. Of course if the online leagues work this year that wont happen so I guess we'll see.

Yeah I like that too. But it's a catch-22. If we use SCEA online leagues we're stuck with whatever default roster we start the season with. But if we use leaguedaddy there's more flexibility and we have the most up-to-date rosters, but it costs money, and manually entering stats after every game BLOWS. lol

the SCEA leagues were running like a charm by the end of the cycle on last years game. The advantages are trades, free agents, injuries, pitchers that tire game to game (bullpen overuse, no manual rotations needed), etc.

agreed, I was in 1 of those online leagues but it started too late towards the end of the baseball season so after about 15 games in it dies a slow death.
