My Madden 11 Online Impressions

Just got done my first online game vs. windy city (gg), I won 14-0.

The settings windy challenged me with were:

5 min quarters
All-Madden
Acc. Clock on
Game speed normal? That part I couldn't see but I assume it was normal.

The game felt very jittery to me, especially compared to offline. It was more difficult to get the players to do what I wanted. Of course, this is nothing new with next gen Madden, so that's disappointing.

I still feel the ball travels way too fast out of the QB's hands to the receiver, it gives you hardly anytime to click on and make a play. This leads to guys being out of position when you click on. Again, the game being jittery does not help this.

I hate that they changed the Swat button to L1. X was so much better, and EA doesn't let you change it.

The game felt rushed especially with the accelerated clock on, that's something we shouldn't use (IMO), unless guys like to play with 8 or 9 min quarters. I would just prefer you to challenge me with it off and just use 5 or 6 minute quarters.

It was only 1 game, but this game feels a lot like last year but slightly faster game speed. If the game wasn't so jittery, it could be OK, but I didn't really enjoy myself while playing that game. That has nothing to do with Windy, but the fact that Madden next gen just isn't fun (again, IMO).

Bottom line, playing Madden next gen still feels like a chore and doesn't come close to having the fun factor of other online sports games (MLB: The Show, Fifa 2010 World Cup).

Pretty cool that you shut him out. Even on All-Madden I don't think I've ever been shut out so I think thats a good sign even though the game was probably pretty short given the minute quarters and accel clock. Also not to contradict you but I love that they changed swat to L1, I couldn't use it before then, where it was located would mess me up. Any chance you're gonna get another game in and maybe play with slow speed and no accel? It sucks that I don't get the game until tuesday afternoon.

I don't think the shutout says too much. Windy looked like he was still getting used to the game (as am I, 14 points is way too low for me). Also the accelerated clock really put a dent in our number of plays big time.

I won't ever play on slow speed again after last year's debacle. Normal feels right offline, and it's good online except the lag makes thing a pain in the ass. Hopefully it was just an isolated issue between me and windy, and games will be smoother with other opponents I play.

Accelerated clock will definitely be off for all games I play in the future. That shit is pointless unless you're playing 10+ minute quarters.

As for the swat, I'm sure it's something I'll get used to, I just feel it's in an awkward spot. In year's past, it was easier to switch players with O and then tap X to swat while holding in sprint the entire time.

One thing for sure is that this new kicking meter fucking blows with the online lag. I've missed 3 extra points because the piece of shit won't stop on the way for accuracy.

What's so different about it? It's smoother and a little faster than last year, but that's offline. Online is jittery and annoying and just reminds me of the next gen Madden that we've been playing for the last 4 years.

Smoother, a lot more control, ability to make sideline catches, return of the deep ball. Game made good game play improvements IMO just the strategy pad thats fuckin with me.

I agree, but like I said, that's offline. Online is a jittery mess as usual. Really takes away from the enjoyment of the game for me.

I didn't see an option for it in the settings, but I want to say it's off by default for online games.

Game is Madden 10.5.... Wierd. I only played one game yesterday when I came home and I stopped playing in the 3rd qt. If the big features were so called locomotion,ask madden 2.0, sideline catches, and Gus Johnson then you know something is wrong. Players still don't have real foot planting,DB's still no your routes better than your WR, Kicking meter is a joke, Same lame ass cut scenes from last year, repetitive cut scenes ( Show something other than players getting off the bus each game).

What happened to..

-Improvement of pro-tak gang tackles?
-Half time show
-defensive pre-play adjustments like we had in Ps2 days
-Nfl style presentation
-top notch commentary
-A REAL FREAKING KICKING METER!
-Dynamic weather

EA needs to fix this its BS im in ultimate team playing a match and I start to pull away from my opponent in the 3rd its like 35-17 he throws a pick and I take it back for a TD so my opponent quits and it wouldn't let me finish the game I dont even get the option BS

We're talking online here deejay... we all skip through the cutscenes and would even if they were spectacular..

I'm with Mobb so far on the jerky feel of the game online.. in the one game I played vs BB, it felt like the players were on rubber bands or something.. that shit makes it almost impossible to kick well..

Everything else added gameplay-wise is excellent (aside from strat pad obviously).. If the game handled online like it does offline it would be superb... Like I thought while playing the 360 version and getting a calloused thumb, the PS3 D-Pad is leaps and bounds better and makes the strat-pad not as horrible as it could have been, but it's still an unnecessary change.. can't wait for the patch..
