My thoughts on the Michael Sam Kiss

I personally feel society can handle it and there was nothing wrong. We see much worse on television all the time, expected or unexpected. It was kiss between two adults and this is the 21st century. No one gets on their soap box if its a man and woman.

There will be no problem, any body acting like there will be is just blowing smoke.

Out of all the members of the NFL and the media, only one was dumb enough to say anything and get in trouble. And what we(or the people odd enough to sit and watch) saw was as bad as it should ever get. Going forward I can't think of any other reason for ESPN to tape and show him kissing his boyfriend. Especially since playing for The Rams there's no chance he'll ever be celebrating a superbowl win on the field.

Society can handle it. We see so many things that are much more traumatic and no one bats an eye. It was a kiss and a bunch of backwards thinking people can't handle it. If this was 60 years ago and a black man kissed his white girlfriend on tv, people would lose their minds too. Society technically couldn't handle that at the time. However that doesn't mean it shouldn't be shown.

I don't know what world you guys think we live in where you can snap your fingers and *poof* everybody is cool with what we saw Saturday. These things take time. Doling out all of the forced apologies you want from people like Don Jones isn't going to magically force acceptance.

Wife used to watch Will & Grace all the time. I never understood the humor of the Debra Messing and Eric McCormick characters. Seemed to be a very strange show, yet those two would be nominated for best actor/actress awards every year.

I was shocked they showed it on TV. I have no problem with homosexuals but haven't seen it shown on live tv before so it kinda threw me off. That said, I realized how silly it was that I WAS shocked by it because I shouldn't be. I'm not shocked/surprised/angry when a male/female kiss and I shouldn't be when a male/male or female/female do it. It literally has no bearing on me and if two people are in love, so be it. To be honest, I was kind of embarrassed at my own personal reaction.

The % of society that can handle it is growing, but there is still a significant % that can't. As far as nothing wrong, that's your belief. There are others that don't share that belief. Wright/wrong, moral/immoral, ethical/unethical, that's all a matter of opinion. What should not be up for debate is whether people have the right to. For those that want to say it's definitely wrong (rams), they should have to factually prove it's wrong. If they can't, then individuals should have the right to choose w/o being oppressed. In that sense, I would agree with your "nothing wrong".

I think media is over-reacting to the entire issue, people are over-reacting to the kiss, and also a over-reaction to those who found it uncomfortable. Seems like there is over-reaction and intolerance flying in every direction surrounding this.
