[ALL] NBA Jam confirmed for 360/PS3, but with a catch

Most people know that EA is bringing back NBA Jam for the Wii and it's looking awesome. There have been constant rumors that they would eventually bring it to the 360 and PS3 and those rumors have finally been confirmed. There is quite the caveat though.

It turns out that the only way you can play the game on the beefier consoles is to BUY a copy of NBA Elite which will include a download code for the game. And the game itself will be a bit of s tripped down version compared to the one on the Wii.

Lame. Way to get back to retaking your spot on the throne of being "that" game company.
 
I am not buying NBA ELITE for a stripped down version of the game. EA is fuckin stupid again. Pretty much telling us their game is going to suck.

It's a free game on top of NBA Elite.
Hell, there are likely guys here who would have bought Jam as a standalone title, now they get to try Elite for free - essentially.

Sure EA is trying to take a few customers from 2k's base - but 2k is using Michael Jordan. Jordan vs Jam.

I absolutely loved NBA Live 10 and am looking forward to trying Elite. Getting a few games of Jam in won't hurt my feelings.

Yeah, but you aren't getting the full version. It's bullshit marketing. It would be one thing if they even offered the download on XBL or PSN but they aren't. If you are a 360/PS3 owner you are either forced to buy a game you don't want just to get a stripped down version or forced to buy a Wii.

It's only one mode they're removing. You'll still be able to play online.
And I bet, dollars to donuts (no offence piggie :D), that once a few months have passed, you will see Jam on PSN and XBLA.
 
I was planning on buying two basketball games this year. NBA 2K11 ($60) for the 360 and NBA Jam ($50) for the Wii. Now, I can just buy 2K 11 and NBA Elite and have all three NBA games. Like Dave said, it's like buy one get one free.

I don't give a rip about the boss battles found only in the Wii version. The three free modes of NBA Jam they are adding to NBA Elite is all I wanted in the first place.

If the only thing that is missing is boss battles then I probably wouldn't care either. It just seemed like they were referring to a lot more being trimmed off the 360/PS3 versions.

I actually wanted to buy NBA Live this year because it seemed for accessible and fun than 2K. But I gave up on waiting for the price to drop. I think it might even still be at least $40. I ended up buying 2k for my buddy and I when it went on sale for $20. One of the worst purchases I've ever made because it's one of the hardest games I've ever played.

Honestly, I think the free NBA Jam modes will be enough for most people.
I loved NBA Live 10, Twigg. It was a fun game.
Again, no knock on the 2k series, it's a great game. But IMO, the 2k guys are determined Live sucks whether they've played it or not.
Live 09 didn't suck, it wasn't as good as 2k, but it didn't suck.
Live 10 IMO was very comparable to 2k10 (and, yes, I had both). If Live 10 had a fault, it was that all-star default level was too fucking hard and pro default not hard enough.

I want Elite 11 to succeed, but I also want both franchises to succeed, because it's good for gaming as a whole.
Madden exclusivity ruined videogame football, I don't want that to happen to basketball or hockey (though NHL series pretty much kill 2k hockey on quality alone).

From my understanding, it seems to be the full game minus the remix tour but in HD with online play. The Wii version won't be in HD and i'm pretty sure it's offline play only. I'm so glad they are adding NBA Jam to Elite. I was going to hate trying to play it on the Wii.
 
I thought Live 10 was great. But had absolutely no interesting career mode. Now that they've confirmed a Be A Pro mode, AND included NBA Jam free. Shiii how can I pass that up?

If it was a $20 XBLA purchase I would probably get it.. I don't plan on buying Elite at all though and I'm moving away from my Wii so it doesn't look like I'll be getting it :(

Dont you have to have that plugged into the wii-mote to use it? I dont know...I just dont care to play the Wii. My problems with the console go beyond the controller.
 
Yeah, I use the wireless Wavebird Gamecube controller for a lot of games.

Although you can't underestimate the power of trophies/achievements. EA better not pull some shit and not include them though.

online and hd are pretty big factors in me not buying the wii version (:shifty:downloading is another story though
