Always liked him, but felt like he was falling short of his true potential. Can't really put my finger on it but feels like we were always waiting on him to become something more. (Being the guy we "settled" for after Ty Lawson was taken one spot earlier will do that.) He can get to the hoop at will with his quickness, and he's an active defender. He'll put up the occasional big scoring night but he's not always as aggressive as he should be. At the same time though he's not really a "pass first" guard either.

Some who cover the Hawks are saying he never displayed enough leadership qualities, but I don't know how valid of a criticism that is. It is funny that he's staying with Larry Drew, who I feel stunted his development a lot by failing to trust him more in crunch time of games and jerking his minutes around. LD was constantly calling him out in post-games for not being more aggressive also, so it will be an interesting relationship to watch.

Maybe he'd rather him than Brandon Jennings?

Where is Jennings even gonna sign now btw? If the Hawks don't match Teague there aren't really any teams out there that need a PG.

The Rockets do need a PG. Or at the very least one that's way better at post entry passes which Lin struggles at. With that being said, Brandon Jennings isn't that guy either.

I'm convinced you look at stat lines on espn more often than you watch basketball

In all of his reseasrch he would have notice Beverley played overseas the past 4 years. But I guess you can't find that in a stat line.

Beverly's at-rim assists per game: 1.1
Lin's: 3.2 (which is actually really high in the league, he just needs to cut down on turnovers or get better at it).

You could argue Beverly wasn't really in the game to do that, but what's proven to you that he can be a reliable, starting PG for a team like Houston?

I do both quite equally (and in large amounts I might add) actually. The only thing of note that Beverley did last year was injure Westbrook in the playoffs. He's a pretty good defensive player and rebounder, but not a guy that you want starting. Maybe if he can hit that 3 at closer to a 40% clip (ala Chalmers) he'd warrant being the starting 5. Doubt it though, because then basically all playmaking duties would fall on Harden's shoulders. JH is one of the best pick and roll ballhandlers in the league but he's not LeBron when it comes to orchestrating the offense from a non-PG spot.
