The only move that I have liked that the Nets have made is getting Deron Williams.....other than that move the rest of have been terrible. They now have a 1 year window to win a championship with a first year head coach who was just playing last year. I just don't get it. I doubt this team finishes ahead of Miami, Chicago, Indiana and possibly New York.\

Also, if we have learned anything it is that you can't just throw a bunch of name guys who are past their prime and hope to win.

The Nets roster still has flaws, but at least they are competing. The league is all about the Heats right now, so, as long as the Nets can make the playoffs and compete, I'm a happy fan. Adding KG and Paul Pierce adds to that and maybe the Nets can make it past the first round now.

And, lets just keep it real. Miami, Brooklyn, New York, Indiana, and Chicago are the only teams in the East that will finish above .500. Boston is going to drop hard, and they were barely over .500. Milwaukee won't be as good, neither will Atlanta and they weren't over .500 last year anyway. There are your playoff teams. The East will be really bad...it'll be 5-teams competing, and the Nets are one of them. Indiana is the only other team that stands out besides the Heats...and the Nets went 3-0 against the Pacers last year with their flawed roster.

The Nets have an owner willing to spend money and willing to acquire pieces. You have essentially, only 5 teams in the East competing for anything...the rest suck or are on constant rebuild mode. With the Russian mob money, the Nets will always be recycling windows of opportunity. They'll always be drafting in the 20's, so, building through the draft will be silly and the boss doesn't want to suffer through 3-4 shitty seasons to acquire talent through the draft.

Also, the Nets cap situation going forward is better today than it was yesterday. You don't have that albatross of a Gerald Wallace contract anymore, and KG will be off the books in two years, Pierce is off the books this year but I'd like to see him re-sign and keep the window open a little...after those two years, the Joe Johnson contract will be an expiring and possible to trade. That 24M expiring will be a nice little piece by 2015 when this window is closing. And, you could do a lot worse than Deron Williams and Brook Lopez as your constants to build around, but by 2015-16 season, they'll be late in their contracts as well.

I think the Wizards, Cavs, and Raptors are three teams that can come up and take playoff spots. I wouldn't say .500, but they can make the playoffs in the East.

With Lowry expiring this makes a lot of sense. I'm hoping it's Lowry and Ross going to LAC in exchange for Caron Butler and Bledsoe.

Dude... the Nets won 49 games last year and the East is only getting worse while there team got better. Plus there's going to be a ton of teams tanking for high picks in 2014.

49 last year and they've improved...you attempting to troll me, methinks.

Either way, it doesn't matter, the difference between 49 and 45 is the 4 and 5 seed. All that matters is where they go in the playoffs. I'd like to see them avoid the Heat in Round 2, which means a 3-seed. And, this year's Nets team is much more equipped for a playoff run by adding Pierce and Garnett. Those two players are the difference in a 7-game series loss to last year's Bulls and sweeping them, IMO. They still lose to the Heat, but whatever. I'd like to see the Nets test their moxy against a built-for-the-playoffs Pacers team in the second round in 2014. Last year's Nets went 3-0 against Indiana in the regular season.

I like the Brooklyn trade, biggest thing is they got rid of Crash's contract and the presence of KG will help Brook a lot.

A team I like on paper right now is the Wizards. They have a youthful back court with a veteran front court, as long as the injury bug doesn't hit, I can see them taking the 6 or 7 seed.
