NBA vs College Basketball

I did this in the Football section, but I think I'm going to do it again here. I prefer college hoops because the whole season is a lot more intense. In the NBA, no one plays defense until the Playoffs, and even then it can be a little spotty. In college, people play as if their life is on the line. Plus, upsets are the greatest things in sports, and in the NBA you just don't see many. Sure, the Nets will one day beat the Lakers or Cavs, but in college you have upsets every day. Chaminade beating #1 Virginia, 16th seed Princeton almost beating #1 Connecticut in the NCAA tournament, etc.

March Madness is the craziest 2 or 3 weeks of my life. It gets intense.
 
College basketball hands down....nothing like March Madness and a 64 team tournament to determine the National Champion. Plus upsets happen on a daily basis, there are more classic games (6 OT between Cuse and Uconn, the 3OT game between Okie State vs Texas in 2007, Memphis-Kansas national championship), cinderella stories, and there is more emotion in college hoops. There isn't enough parity in the NBA right now. You can determine who is going to the NBA title game pretty easily whereas in college bball its a toss up when March comes around.
 
College Bball. Theres just way more excitement. I can get into CBB games all year long, but for NBA I can't really get into it until after the All Star break.

I'm a Cavs fan but the only time I really watch the NBA is when Lebron and Kobe play and the playoffs.
 
NBA far and away. Better quality of basketball to such an overwhelming degree. College basketball games are exciting because even the good teams aren't all that good. Bad defense, poorly run offensive sets, bad passing, etc.

I won't argue that the NBA is more exciting, on a night to night basis it's probably not to the common fan. I however find much more enjoyment watching the greatest athletes in the world playing at the top level of their game over a bunch of screaming drunk white kids with their face painted jumping up and down watching mediocre basketball.

I see the appeal of college basketball, I really do... it's just not my cup of tea.

That is in no way, even remotely true.

People unfortunately confuse defense with effort. Someone is pounding the floor, moving their hands around, doing full court press and they assume thats playing "good" defense. The best defenders in the NBA don't need to pound the floor or pull their shorts up. The best guys, unless you REALLY watch the game, you'll rarely be able to tell. Casual fans have trouble knowing when a guy is playing truly "great" defense. Nothing that Artest or Battier, Kobe, etc. do is "in your face" they are just always in the right position and make precise movements.

NBA...I follow the NBA alot, because of fantasy and because the Cavs are good (67 points in the 1st half today lulz). I really like March Madness tho.
 
My interest in the NBA peaked in 1993, and has dropped steadily each successive season to the point that I probably won't watch an entire 4Q NBA game this year. I watch fragments of games, get bored, and move on.

I've touched on this in other threads, but the NBA is loaded with scrubs. The league has too many teams and the talent is watered down. Very few teams run more than 6 or 7 deep.

Nobody can convince me that the quality of play wasnt better 15-20 years ago, and watching those games makes it even more obvious. The NBA today is just a shit product.

College hoops, on the other hand, is fanatstic. The best postseason of any major sport. like Hova touched on, the first four days of the tournament, to me, is the best four days in sports. It's more of a pure game than the pro's, with a wider variety of strategy & play styles. It's just far more interesting.

In the NBA, it's all about the player. Kobe and Lebron will get the ball and stand for 10 seconds at the top of the key, then drive and shoot. That's it. In college, you see some of that, but not as much. It's more of a team oriented, pass-then-shoot-and-we'll-win-the-game type of sport. I love it
 
Yes, because those guys are elite athletes in their sport.

That's like saying it's boring that Peyton Manning gets to take every snap for the Colts.

LeBron and Kobe should handle the ball the majority of the game, they are top-tier players in their sport.
