NCAA 14 30-year Roster Tournament

Pretty cool tournament you have going on here.

I use to create tournaments with my Alumni rosters in years past. May have to get one started in the next few weeks.

I think on my Alumni rosters I actually have Archie Griffin starting at RB over Eddie George, Rex Kern over Troy Smith at QB and Jack "The Assasin" Tatum starts in the secondary.

Tatum is one of my favorite old school players ever.....

I would have definitely started Griffin over every other RB on the Ohio State roster, but, this roster only includes players that were active from the '82 season - present. I would actually prefer to have some "all-time" rosters like the one you created. However, on the PS3 they are not available and most of the all-time team rosters you can find usually include nothing but players rated 99 overall and over half of them are guys from the last decade - probably because the roster makers are so young that they aren't aware of any football prior to 2005 lol

Tennessee's D is the REAL DEAL. Running against their front seven is very difficult. Ohio State can really only pass from the Shotgun because of the quick penetration the Vols defensive line gets. Eddie George is getting the tough yards, but, he has not broken anything off yet. His stamina is somewhat low, so Ohio State may go to Robert Smith for a change of pace in the second half and start busting runs inside with Maurice Clarett.

Semi-Final #2 Results

This game was much more defensive than the Pitt/Georgia game. The Tennessee front seven was very dominant in the first half. While still strong, they were not as effective in the second half. RB Maurice Clarett only carried the ball 8 times in the second half, but, he gained valuable yards when needed on short DND plays.

The Tennessee offense put up a lot of yards, but, could not get the ball in the end-zone as they only produced 2 FG's for the game. Tennessee fell 17-6 in what I consider an upset. The Volunteers got plenty of production from their receivers. Most notably Alvin Harper who caught six passes for 86 yards. On the defensive side, Kevin Burnett was the Vols leader on defense as he seemed to be in on every play.

Ohio State just kept pounding the ball and using short passes to keep Troy Smith out of trouble. The trio of Cris Carter, David Boston and Joey Galloway ran a number of short crossing routes picking up 7-8 yards at a time. Late in the 4th quarter and facing 3rd and 6, Ohio State opted to go for the win, rather than run the ball and force Tennessee to use their last time out. A play-action rollout was the call and Troy Smith found David Boston across the middle for a great catch and run that went 68-yards and sealed the victory for Ohio State.

Ohio State will now take on a very underrated Pitt team in the tournament final that takes place at the Rose Bowl.

Finally made it to the championship game of this little tournament. Simming through group play provided quite a few surprises. Actually getting involved with the Semifinals & Championship was a blast as well. I was shocked by all the different types of games I had and this title game was no different.

Ohio State got up early and had a 9-0 (missed PAT) lead at the end of the first quarter. Pitt would eventually get on the scoreboard with a 35-yard field goal. However, Ohio State kept answering each Pitt score up to halftime where the teams would head to the lockerroom with the score 23-13 in favor of Ohio State.

Ohio State owed a lot of their good fortune in the first half to the right arm of Troy Smith who really had a connection going with WR Cris Carter. Carter snagged a first half TD and had 140 receiving yards in the game.

Pitt seemed to keep shooting themselves in the foot with costly mistakes. Most notably, 3 first half interceptions by HOFer Dan Marino. LeSean McCoy got the start over Curtis Martin and was able to work the ball between the tackles, but, he could not get to the edge against the Ohio State defense to make any big plays.

Pitt seems to be a second half team as their defense stepped up with several big stops throughout the second half giving their offense plenty of opportunities to get back in the game. In fact, Pitt held Ohio State scoreless in the second half to force OVERTIME in this game.

As OT began, Pitt took possession first and on the second play, LeSean McCoy scampered for a 25-yard touchdown run to put Pitt up 30-23. Ohio State QB Troy Smith went for the kill-shot on the first play of Ohio State's possession, but, overthrew a pass intended for Terry Glenn through the back of the end-zone. On 2nd and 10, Smith dropped back again and fired a pass intended for David Boston in the slot. However, Pitt LB Clint Session stepped right in front of the pass and picked it off to seal the win, and tournament championship, for the Pitt Panthers.

This roster set has provided a nice variety of games for me as well. I can't believe Pitt took it all in the Tournament. Just finished up Arizona and Arizona State. I want to get a few more teams done before I make another Upload. Arizona's defense is sick. I gace them the 3-4 multiple playbook. I want to make a Desert Swarm custom playbook but have yet to delve into it.. The 3-4 Multiple is a good playbook. i think this is the first time I've used it. Their offense is not very good. Gronk is a big time player.

Arizona State has a very solid offense line and a slew of 80 rated backs with all kinds of skills. ASU's D is strong on the line and in the defensive backfield and very athletic at the LB position with Pat Tillman and Darren Woodson playing the olb's as they did at State.
