Although I said it earlier and everyone laughed, Indiana is on the upswing.

Hoosiers just received a commit from 6'3 wide receiver Taj Williams, a four-star recruit. He chose Indiana over offers from Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, UCLA, USC, Kentucky, and Louisville, among others that I don't give a shit about. 38th best recruiting class so far.

Here we go.

HOUSTON (CBS Houston) A teen who signed to play football with the University of Houston Cougars is being accused of having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl.

Nineteen-year-old Deondre Demarcus Skinner who signed to play football with the University of Houston back in February, was arrested Tuesday afternoon on a charge of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile.

According to officials, Skinner allegedly had sex with the teen several times at a home in Patterson, Louisiana.

UH officials released a statement about Skinner’s alleged crime: “We are aware of the situation and are currently gathering details. The University of Houston Department of Athletics takes these allegations very seriously and would never condone acts like these if true. Until we are able to gather more information, we will offer no further comment.”

Additional reports indicate that Skinner had offers to play football from nine other colleges. Upon his arrest, he was released on a $5,000 bond

http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/blog/eye-on-college-football/22065190/oklahoma-qb-drew-allen-will-transfer-to-syracuse-eligible-for-2013

Oklahoma quarterback Drew Allen has decided to spend his final year of eligibility with Syracuse. The senior from San Antonio made the news official on Friday in a conversation with the Syracuse Post-Standard.

"It is the toughest decision of my life just because of the uniqueness of the situation," Allen told the Post-Standard. "Coming out of high school, I was basically deciding where I was going to go for the next four or five years of my life. With this, it was a decision that would span a matter of months -- a one-year deal.

"So it's been a long process, and I'm really excited that it's come down to me going to Syracuse."

Allen, a 6-foot-5, 226-pound former high school All-American, will earn his degree from Oklahoma in May and be eligible to compete immediately. His one-year deal makes Allen an attractive target for first-year coach Scott Shafer, who is left with the task of replacing Ryan Nassib for 2013.

Shafer cannot make an official statement regarding Allen until he is enrolled at Syracuse.

After redshirting in 2009, Allen fell behind Landry Jones on the Sooners' depth chart. The competition for 2013 includes Blake Bell, the Belldozer, along with Trevor Knight and Kendal Thompson. At Syracuse, Allen is already considered by some as the favorite to beat out redshirt senior Charley Loeb, junior Terrel Hunt and senior John Kinder for the starting job.

According to Allen, the Orange coaching staff made no promises regarding the competition.

"I can assure you that the schools that contacted me, not one single school made that promise, and I didn't expect them to," Allen told The Post-Standard. "Honestly, if a school did that, I don't know if I would really hold them to a high regard. That's not how I do things. I've had to compete the past four years, I've had to compete all my life."

Allen chose Syracuse over ACC division rival NC State, citing his relationship with offensive coordinator George McDonald as a deciding factor.

"When it came down to those two schools, I knew that I honestly couldn't go wrong," Allen said. "Both coaching staffs are amazing; both have great players. But when it came down to it, I just feel like what Coach McDonald is talking about doing there at Syracuse really fits my style."

Syracuse has released an official depth chart, and Loeb is likely to be Allen's toughest competition for playing time. Shafer has not ruled out using two quarterbacks, either, so both players could end up seeing time in their final year of eligibility.

Syracuse wraps spring practice with the annual spring game on April 20. For more on the Orange, check out their Spring Practice Primer.

http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/blog/eye-on-college-football/22065929/arizona-receiver-austin-hill-has-a-torn-acl

Arizona receiver Austin Hill suffered an injury during practice Wednesday, and after Arizona's spring game on Saturday, coach Rich Rodriguez confirmed the worst fears about the injury.

Hill suffered a torn ACL and in all likelihood will miss the entire 2013 season.

This is a huge blow to the Arizona offense. Hill led all Arizona receivers with 81 catches for 1,364 yards and 11 touchdowns as a sophomore in 2012. Making matters worse for Hill, because he redshirted his first year, this season on the sideline will cost him a year of eligibility. He'll be a senior by the time he returns for the 2014 season.

Dan Buckner was the only Arizona receiver to come close to approaching Hill's numbers (61 catches, 771 yards and five touchdowns) last season, but he did so as a senior and won't be back in 2013. Which means that Arizona's most productive returning receiver is rising sophomore David Richards, who caught 29 passes for 298 yards and three touchdowns last season.

The good news for Arizona is that while it doesn't have a lot of experience at receiver behind Hill, it has plenty of potential with players like Richards, Tyler Slavin, Garic Wharton and Trey Griffey -- the son of baseball player Ken Griffey Jr.

Arizona is also hoping that recent transfer Davonte Neal can win his appeal to the NCAA that would allow him to be eligible for the 2013 season rather than sitting out the customary year.

http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/9156420/ex-notre-dame-fighting-irish-qb-gunner-kiel-transferring-cincinnati-bearcats-source-says

Former Notre Dame quarterback Gunner Kiel plans to transfer to Cincinnati.

Kiel recently visited Cincinnati, Ball State, Miami University in Ohio and considered visiting Mississippi this upcoming weekend. He also looked into Kansas State and Mississippi State.

"Cincinnati was the best fit for me because the relationship I have with [quarterbacks] coach [Darin] Hinshaw is like nothing else. He is a great overall person and is someone I know I can get coached by," Kiel said Wednesday. "The group of guys I'm going to be around is second to none. I love where they are heading and the future is bright."

Kiel, 6-foot-4, 210 pounds, was one of the nation's most -recruited players after a stellar career at Columbus East High School in Indiana.

After high school, Kiel committed to Indiana, then LSU, before settling on Notre Dame.

But redshirt freshman Everett Golson won the starting position and led the Irish to the national championship game last season.

Like with Hinshaw, Kiel also has developed a good relationship with Cincinnati offensive coordinator Eddie Gran.

Cincinnati has two senior quarterbacks, Munchie Legaux and Brendon Kay. Kiel will have three years of eligibility remaining and said he wanted a chance to compete for a starting position in 2014.

The Bearcats plan to use a pro-style, multiple offense that should suit Kiel's strengths. Cincinnati probably won't run as much zone-read offense as some other programs are currently using.

Kiel's addition is considered a coup for first-year Bearcats coach Tommy Tuberville. Kiel grew up in Columbus, Ind., which is about 90 miles from Cincinnati.

[URL="http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/blog/eye-on-college-football/22091550/qb-clint-trickett-released-from-scholarship-will-transfer-from-florida-state"]http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/blog/eye-on-college-football/22091550/qb-clint-trickett-released-from-scholarship-will-transfer-from-florida-state

The battle to replace EJ Manuel as Florida State's starting quarterback may be a little clearer now as the school has granted junior Clint Trickett a release from his scholarship. He will graduate from FSU in May and then transfer to a still-to-be-determined school.

FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher released the following statement on Wednesday:

"After a long meeting with Clint, he expressed he'd like to explore another playing opportunity, and I've signed off on his wish. Clint has not only been a great player for our program, but a great young man and ambassador for Florida State who will graduate in a few weeks. He's been a part of this program for a long time and we wish nothing but the best for him in his future endeavors."

Trickett is the most experienced quarterback on the FSU roster with 106 pass attempts the past two seasons. He started two games for an injured Manuel as a 2011 redshirt freshman and performed well, with his best game being a 336-yard, three-touchdown performance against Clemson. He also served as Manuel's backup in 2012.

Because of that playing time, it was thought that the 6-foot-3, 180-pounder entered 2013 spring drills with a slight advantage over sophomore Jacob Coker and freshmen Jameis Winston and Sean Maguire.

However, the highly-touted Winston (who also plays baseball for the Seminoles) has now emerged as the favorite to claim the starting job after going 12-of-15 for 205 yards and two touchdowns against the first-string defense in this past Saturday's spring game.

It's likely that Trickett sees the writing on the wall regarding his future at FSU and no longer wants to play the role of backup.

With Trickett's departure, the 'Noles enter the fall with just one quarterback (Coker) who has taken a snap in a real game.

Stanford quarterback Josh Nunes was forced to retire from football Monday after previously suffering what coach David Shaw called a “freak injury” that kept him out of spring practices.

Shaw said Nunes hurt himself during a workout in February before spring practices began. The school didn’t go into the details of what happened, but the AP’s Antonio Gonzalez is here to fill in the blanks. If you have a weak stomach, maybe you should stop reading.
