I think Florida and LSU would stand a decent shot at beating them as well. Mariotta is much better than Darron Thomas was, but I still don't see him engineering that offense to its full effectiveness vs. a defense that can cover sideline to sideline. Oregon stretches the field horizontally in order to create gaping holes on the interior ... I think that, as we have seen in the past, discipline, gap control and speed of pursuit will do them in. It is easier said than done for most teams, because most teams don't have the requisite athletes to neutralize Oregon's O.

Oregon has a good defense this year and is very high octane offense...its just the matchup doesn't bode well for them. Oregon's offense is all about beating you east-west and getting YAC in the passing game. SEC defenses are too fast sideline to sideline and their DBs don't allow YAC.

Its just a style clash and Oregon doesn't win out. They would lose to Alabama, LSU, and Florida. All three teams have shown great gap discipline and contain in games this year with just the front four...a team built like Oregon just gets beat.

Where Oregon also has a major disadvantage is the fact Saban/Miles or whoever really.. would have a month to prepare for that offense. If they were playing say... this weekend? Probably a closer game.
 
Oregon thrives off of big plays and quick scores. I think they could move the ball against Bama/LSU/Florida, but I don't think they could sustain a 14 play drive. They aren't just going to have 60 yard scores against an SEC/ND defense like they do against Pac 12 teams

Yeah definitely. Pretty much the only thing Julio had over Coop (other than the athleticism) was his ability to block. Coop's hands are better than Julio's are now.

That was a disgusting injury for Lattimore, this is why every time I see a defender lunge at the knee if a ball carrier I get a bit nervous. This type of poor/pussy tackling is a problem.
