Late to the party, but I just saw Bill Cubit was fired.

Why do schools keep hiring this bum? He can't even hold a QB coach job longer than two years. Hire somebody young & exciting, jeez.
 
I am very excited about the hiring of Willie Taggart. He's a local-product himself from Manatee county, so while many see this as a stepping-stone job for him, he could very well pull a Leavitt and decide USF is where he wants to build his legacy and re-build this program.
 
Damn Tommy tuberville to Cin is a great pick up...Tuber knows how to recruit and isnt a terrible coach on the sidelines either....Cant believe he left Tech though...With Texas still down alittle, I figured Tech could have been primed for a Big 12 run at some point :dunno: Oh well

Tech has an awful administration and BOT. Just awful. The entire AD is not a place that promotes a fun workplace. Also, resources aren't there. Leach and Tuberville are just good coaches, but as Leach has detailed...the infrastructure isn't there...its a mess that you don't want to work for. Tuberville, I assume, found out.

Cincy has a great AD from what I've heard.

I wonder if Tech was going to get rid of Tuberville because of the "slapping the Grad Asst" incident from earlier this year...or if they were going to put Tuberville on a "Bob Knight leash" and fire him without pay the first time he looked crossly at someone
 
UTEP hires Pittsburgh Steelers O-line coach, Sean Kugler.

UTEP has found its replacement for Mike Price, and is preparing to announce Sean Kugler, the Pittsburgh Steelers offensive line coach, as the Miners' next head football coach.

The El Paso Times reported the news over the weekend. Pete Roussel, of Coachingsearch.com, also confirmed that Kugler had accepted the position before the Steelers' loss to the Chargers on Sunday.

Kugler played offensive line at UTEP from 1984-88, under then-offensive line coach Andy Reid. He was a senior on the Miners' 1988 Independence Bowl squad, the only UTEP team to go to a bowl between 1967-2000. Bob Stull was UTEP's head coach while Kugler played and now Stull the Miners' athletic director.

"I leave the administrating to Coach Stull," quarterback Carson Meger told the El Paso Times. "He got someone like Coach Price here, so obviously he knows what he's doing. I'm eager to meet [Kugler]. His accolades speak for themselves. It might be good to bring some energy in, something different."

It is not known when an official announcement will be made to introduce Kugler in El Paso. Price retired in Novebmer after finishing the 2012 season with a 3-9 record. In nine seasons as the UTEP coach, Price compiled a 48-61 record and led the Miners to three bowl games and two winning seasons.

This will be Kugler's first return to UTEP since serving as a graduate assistant and offensive assistant from 1993-2000. He then transitioned to a extended stint with the Detroit Lions before joining Boise State's staff in 2006 for that memorable Fiesta Bowl season. Kugler then took a job with the Buffalo Bills, where he served as the offensive line coach, until joining the Steelers in 2010.

According to CoachingSearch.com, Washington State linebackers coach Jeff Choate will join Kugler as his defensive coordinator.

Colorado hires San Jose State Head Coach, Mike MacIntyre.

Colorado has hired San Jose State's Mike MacIntyre as its next coach, sources told ESPN.com's Ted Miller on Monday.

MacIntyre replaces Jon Embree, who was fired two weeks ago after going 4-21 in two seasons.

San Jose State will play in the Military Bowl on Dec. 27 after a 10-2 season in which they went 5-1 in the WAC.

MacIntyre, 47, left the defensive coordinator job at Duke for San Jose State three years ago, and he turned around a squad that went 2-10 in Dick Tomey's last season.

MacIntyre had spent two seasons at Duke after working as a secondary coach in the NFL with the Cowboys and the Jets. He was also an assistant at Mississippi for five years.

At Colorado, MacIntyre will inherit a squad that went 1-11 in its seventh straight losing season, the worst mark in the 123-year history of the program. The Buffs were 1-8 in the Pac-12.

Embree had three years remaining on the five-year contract he signed on Dec. 6, 2010, when he replaced Dan Hawkins, whose poor recruiting classes and string of losing seasons led to his dismissal.

MacIntyre's hire ends a two-week search by Colorado that included a rejection by its first choice, Butch Jones, who was hired by Tennessee on Friday.
