NCAA Football 14

I still play NCAA 07 (Reggie Bush cover) for the PS2. Is NCAA Football 14 an improvement over NCAA 07 in terms of gameplay/realism? If so, how?

This was by far the best NCAA game, IMO. Turning HFA off was a must but without a doubt the most realistic challenge mounted by a CPU with default sliders in the game's history -- I was able to run Heisman default sliders and get great results, only had to turn INTs down -- and the dynasty mode was just deep enough to be engrossing without being overly time consuming or tedious like the recruiting has been on next-gen.

I wouldn't mind laborious if it was fun in the process. Making fake phone calls and applying points (whether by a points system or by "time" is just boring shit. Also, its clear, no one that has developed this game knows a thing about the actual "game" of recruiting in real life or knows anything about where recruits come from. It would also be more fun if you had a connection to these players in some regard outside of being a name and star-value. Get a personal touch with a recruit...perhaps CAMPS would help this in the off-season before we get started in a new season where we get a hands on with the recruits before we actually get heavy into recruiting with them. Kind of like in NBA2K where you can play with players before you draft them or like in Madden when you could manually improve a player by doing little drills. Shit like that, for football. Like, have little 7-on-7 tournament mini-games. Some drills that help you improve your chances with a player.

I liked 2K Hoops recruiting and it was basically a chart telling you how guys developed from his Fr. year to Sr. year in HS. For years, I've been saying add 4-5 all star games (NE, SW, SE, West...maybe MidWest) and let you go to 1-2 and play as the teams, the rest you get an evaluation from an asst. coach on specific players. You would get to see how it is to control a highly recruited QB (ie. does he throw sidearm)....maybe next gen.

Anyway long story short I just walked into Best Buy and bought this game because I make enough money to justify the sunk cost that is pissing away 60 bucks every year (insert MrBill braggadocio about hourly wage here), and I got full 12 months out of the last version even with its flaws, simply because I rarely purchase any non-sports games. Fifa, The Show, 2k and NCAA are about all I "game" with so yeah I can afford to drop 60 on another year of my beloved college foobah, even if it's a less than perfect representation.

Got the crib to myself for 5 days so yeah, FUCKWITMEUKNOWIGOTIT

My gripes with the CPU AI are mostly offensive. Simply not enough deep passes (actually, hardly any at all) and a lack of adjustment when I hotrouted for QB spy. Johnny Manziel was helpless when I made sure to hot route QB spy ... and wasn't agressive as a passer. I found that incredibly annoying.

The zone D in this game is incredibly bad. Frankly, I'd never call zone D ever.

I have to dispute this theory....I've seen the CPU AI QB throw deep pretty frequently in the game. I'm currently testing QBA at 5 and even with that setting the CPU AI will throws deep some times on target and sometimes not. I have two videos I can show you if you like later. Also, I'm not seeing the zone coverage issues that I saw in NCAA 13 or 12. I think the problem is the QB's are too accurate in this game and it makes it appear that coverage is broken. Also, keep in mind the college game isn't the NFL there are few very lockdown Corners in college and yes kids blow coverages. I've seen a DB in this game bite on a play action pass and get torched deep because he couldn't recover on the play. One of the reason why I refuse to play on Heisman level is because it takes mistakes out of the game.
