What is the best team so far in this decade from 2000-2009.

Personally I'd say 2001 Miami Hurricanes. Amazing roster of current NFL Players and guys that were just great college players and they had a great season.

I'd have to pick one of the USC teams or possibly LSU in 2003. If I had to pick one I'd take out of the entire decade.... 2002 Ohio State. Clarett fucking killed it that year.

2 depending on how you look at it. And there wasn't a team this decade that won a ridiculous amount of titles but USC was always near the top of the rankings year in and year out.

Yeah but we're talking about a single team, not a "school" of the decade.

01 Hurricanes.

16 Players were drafted in the first round of the NFL draft from that team alone. A total of 23 players on that roster were drafted. Thats just ridiculous.

Definitely the 2001 Hurricanes squad. And like Hokie said, until this 2009 Florida team takes the title.

Its interesting that the best record of any National Champion from the decade is Ohio State's 14-0 mark. 2003-4 USC had back-to-back titles, and Florida had 2 titles in 3 years and possibly will have 3 titles in 4 years. I would think that all these teams have more of a claim to Team of the Decade than the 2001 Hurricanes.

The best single season team of the decade is the 01 Canes. FLorida will give that a run for its money though this year.

The best overall team decade is Florida, with USC a very close second.

OP seemed to be asking for a single team given that he said "2001 Miami Hurricanes" not just "Miami Hurricanes". The date rather indicates that he's speaking of a single team, not decade long dominance.

The '01 Canes would demolish every other team, champion or not, from this decade. The defense would have made Tebow, Young, and Leinart curl up into the fetal position. Probably the best CFB team of all time, not just this decade.

smh at people suggesting Florida will challenge them for that title... this current Florida team isn't in anywhere near the 01 Canes. This year's Gators are good, but that Miami squad is probably the best in the history of college football.

actually i think it is the Buckeyes because of their incredible knack at making comebacks. that + Maurice Clarrett, and they were stacked. IIRC, they had a decent number of Pro Players.

If you are talking about team of the decade, i give it to either the Buckeyes or the Trojans. The Buckeyes have played in more National Titles than anybody else, so....

However, the Trojans haven't missed the BCS since it was started.

Ohio State had a great team in '02, but they are not the team of the decade.

The core of that team went on to set an NFL record for total picks in a draft from one school, by comparison, Miami had 16 first round picks on their '01 squad.

Part of the debate seems to be whether this is even about a single team or the strongest program overall in the past decade. Of course the 01 Canes had a stronger team than probably any Gator team, ever, but the Gators have been more dominant than the Canes.

Depends on how you define dominance, you could make a pretty good case for USC or Oklahoma being the program of the decade, or even LSU.
