EA Considering Cross Buy for Need for Speed Most Wanted

EA is considering utilizing Sony’s Cross Buy program for Need for Speed: Most Wanted. Cross Buy, which Sony announced earlier today, offers the Vita version of a game for free to customers who purchase it on PlayStation 3. Since Need for Speed: Most Wanted will be coming to both platforms, we reached out to EA to find out what they think.

“We’re taking it under consideration,” an EA spokesperson told IGN, “but we have no specific plans to announce at this time.”

While EA didn’t provide any additional comment, it’s certainly interesting that they didn’t outright say “no” as it introduces the possibility of third parties utilizing Cross Buy. With so many games headed to both PlayStation 3 and Vita in the coming months, what other games could take advantage of the program? Perhaps Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified?

For now, the only games that have been confirmed for Cross Buy are PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault and Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time. Keep checking back to IGN for news on any other titles confirmed for the program.

I'm going to guess that EA does NOT offer cross buy. It seems too late in the game at this point. I wanted to get this on PS3 anyway but that would make it a no brainer.

If this does go cross buy and you buy it on 360, and have a PS3/Vita of course, then you're a fucking clown. Although I'm sure that JMS, aka Mr. "I only buy exclusives on PS3" is already getting fitted for his big red shoes.

if the Vita version i playable....also if they did not do it with madden then why would they do it with this?

I thought they already confirmed the gameplay would be cross compatible? But now we're talking about getting the Vita version for free. And I said "if". Knowing EA it won't happen but IF it does you'd be a fool to buy the 360 version.

I know Handle is getting it for sure. Plus I have a few buddies that always get the NFS games on PS3. And there is at least one other guy here that plays on PS3. Screen name begins with a B. We played Hot Pursuit together. Edit: Bluntside. I'm not sure if he's getting it though. I think Brink is getting it as well.

Seriously though, I don't know how many that is but if any of them also have a PS3 and a Vita they are just as dumb, assuming this actually comes to fruition.

And if it does, this game will be a day one purchase. I was going to wait for a sale but if I can get both versions for $60 I'll get it day one.

Yes, but the likelihood of this actually happenings is probably pretty small. Plus, I have zero desire to play a racing game on my Vita unless that shit is free.

I'm actually the opposite for y'all....I'm looking for any game on my Vita. I picked up Madden because of the TRU sale; just hoping the problems can be fixed. I can see picking it up for a short time before going to bed. I was actually looking online for games on Vita coming out and saw this one. Sites say it will only have 4 player MP, no cross play and no crash mode (same as the console version). $40 might be too much to get day 1 but I'm hoping a sale comes up closer to release date.
