You are already at that point. It used to take a very special QB like Peyton Manning to start his rookie season, and even then he took his lumps and the team finished at the bottom again. Up until two years ago, teams were all in the mindset of drafting a QB and growing them on the bench.
Then the rules, especially following the lockout, have really limited defenses and protecting the QB. Last year was the start of things with Andy Dalton leading his team to the playoffs, and Cam Newton setting some records. This year, three rookie QBs lead their teams to the playoffs, and one of them won a division title. There were also five rookie starters from the onset this season, and two others ended up coming in and starting at some point- Foles and Cousins.
