Came in here and voted for Clay right away but after thinking about it, I feel like Polamalu made the highlight reels each week with an outstanding play. This has to be the best defensive play of the year.

Clay had a couple games where he was tamed and wasn't as productive. Can't say I've watched much of the Steelers this season but I feel as though this never happened to Troy.
 
Clay Matthews is the popular pick because he was basically handed the award back in week 4, but Polamalu should win the award. Polamalu is one of the great defensive players this league has seen, but he generally is overlooked. Polamalu consistently makes plays in big moments.
 
I might be a little biased but I still have to vote for Matthews. Polamalu is very deserving as well, I don't think there is a wrong choice between the two.
 
Justin Tuck could be considered...or at least nominated.

No player made the week in week out impact Troy did.

Clay disappeared for long stretches. Troys play and the drop off when hes not in there make him a clear choice for me.
 
As much as I love my boy Clay Mathews, the award should go to Troy no doubt. There's isn't a more impactful player in the NFL week in and week out.

Great season though Clay, can't wait until you have an OLB playing on the other side of you.

Yea I had a hard time finding a 4th guy with outstanding stats. 175 tackles is a huge number, I don't really follow the tackle stat very often, but that number looks inflated.

I think it's Polamalu's award, Matthews kinda disappeared at times and Ed Reed is at least 4 games short of putting up insane stats. I just added Reed in there because Prime Time Deion Sanders kept saying DPOY on the Ed Reed highlights.
 
Troy P is the best defensive player in the game. Don't care what the stats are, I'm voting for him.
