Do not like the Michael Johnson pick at all. We would get murdered on the run if he was paired opposite of Abe. Yes, we'd be beastly getting after the QB but Johnson is way too similar a build to Abraham (even leaner) and neither is capable of playing on the strong side.

I'd like to see us go with a LB, DT or a big, strong side DE. If we ran a 3-4, I'd be all for drafting Johnson and letting him bring hell fire off the edge for 30 snaps a game. But in our system he seems like a misfit, unless we are treating him like an heir-apparent to Abraham, who is somewhat questionable in health but relatively young.

Nicely done, I found it interesting what you said about Cleveland. While it is a concern based on the Stallworth case, and if they move Edwards. I'd see them more inclined to take a running back or defensive player to give youth to their aging positions but damn good point on the Wide-receiver.

The Bears don't have a gaping hole at RT. They signed Frank Omiyale and he is their starter at RT. They are very excited about him and more the comfortable with Josh Beekman being the starter at LG again this season.

I understand the pick for the Cowboys in the second round but imo, receiver is not a bigger need. Roy Williams will be fine, at least I hope so. Patrick Crayton is definatly serviceable. Did Derrick Williams out of Penn State declare or is he returning? He could be a decent pickup in the 3rd round for the Cowboys.

I agree we I don't really think WR is our most pressing need. IMO it is DB (mostly safety because I feel our CBs can be solid), OL (we need a LG I believe) then WR.

Nice mock, but I don't like how Harvin and Nicks fell out of the first round. I still think the Titans will take a receiver with the 30th pick if available. But hey, at least you didn't give them Tyson Jackson or someone and actually gave Tennesseee a nice pick in Alphonso Smith. I would be satisified with him replacing Harper.

I appreciate the feedback, hopefully I can elaborate on where I was coming from there.

Omiyale's signing was on my mind, but I'm just not sure if the Bears love him enough at right tackle to pass on a first or second round prospect if one should slide to them. I'm not sure if a guy being paid less than $3 million per year with one start to his name really has that job locked up at this point. I'll gladly defer to your knowledge about the team and their feelings about him, but as an outsider, I have a hard time believing that's suddenly not an area they could address if someone slips a bit.

However, if I went back and elected to have the Bears pass on an OT in the second round because of the Omiyale signing, then I would probably look at one of the safeties or a defensive end like Kruger.

Yeah great mock overall and honestly I don't think the Bears know what to do with Omiyale.

Before St Claire went to Cleveland they had him at LG ahead of Beekman and then they moved him back to RT at the minicamp. They want him to start somewhere. That's clear, especially if they were willing to move him to LG ahead of Beekman who the team is high on and made 16 starts last year for them, but in the end I think they'd rather have the 4 year NFL vet starting at RT than a rookie on the right side and basically a rookie in Chris Williams on the left side.

Honestly at this point IMO, the Bears biggest needs are WR, DT, OT. In that order.

Also, just FYI, while I like the DHB pick at #18 the Bears are working out Kenny Britt today too.

That's a good point about basically starting two rookies at tackle between Chris Williams and a second-round tackle. Omiyale's experience isn't vast but at least he has some time on the field.

The DHB pick is tough for me, because he's such a boom or bust prospect. There's a lot to like about his physical ability, but you have to wonder if it translates. I like Britt as well and I can see why he'd interest Chicago. I can definitely see them electing to go with the more polished Britt there. Some mocks don't have Britt that high, but I think he and Harvin are probably right there with DHB when it comes to being the third receiver in this draft. It likely just comes down to what a team prefers.

I don't mind the DHB pick. I think the Bears would pass on Harvin if it got down to it but I can see Lovie and Ron Turner falling in love with using him all over the field at RB and WR and having him help spell Forte along with Kevin Jones, but if you are looking for the Bears to take a true WR as a fan I'd rank the guys I like for them:

Britt
Maclin
Ramses Barden(2nd round if the Bears don't take a WR in the 1st)

They need a big target who can go up and win tough balls in traffic and be a red zone target. Someone in more of an Anquan Boldin/Dwayne Bowe mold. They need a big body WR who can make tough catches and battle DB's and increase the margin of error for a QB like Orton on throws.

Finally, a mock that doesn't show the 49ers taking a quarterback.

I honestly think that the 49ers are one of the toughest teams to mock. A cornerback is possible, but with Harris, Clements, Spencer, and Brown already back there, the team could definitely go somewhere else. D-line and o-line are definite possibilities, as well as wide receiver if Maclin or Crabtree happen to fall that far.

A lot of mocks have the Eagles taking Pettigrew. Did anyone watch Brent Celek last year? He's a legit #1 tight end. The Eagles tend to stick to the lines in round one.
I like the Moreno pick at 28. They do need someone to replace Buckhalter and an eventual successor to Westbrook.
Offensive tackle in round 2 makes perfect sense.

Not sure I buy Chris Wells to New Orleans. I agree with that other poster - Pierre Thomas and Reggie Bush are good enough. New Orleans has other needs.

Everything I've read says the Lions are taking Jason Smith at #1.

All that said, as usual, another great mock from Nick ... the artist formerly known as Nick Seiler.

I don't like Curry for the Chiefs. After setting the record for least sacks in a season in NFL history, they need pass rushers, and Curry doesn't fill that need. I'm also skeptical that he'll be the game changer that you expect when taking a guy with the third pick.

Id rather see us trade down out of the 1st than take Hood. All the talk has been about if Jerry and Raji are gone go wr or trade down. This is sort of new to me , but they did say hes coming of a good off-season

Nicks is in that 2nd WR tier with the Harvin's, Heyward-Bey's, Kenny Britt's.. etc. Basically there are a clusterfuck of decent guys that will probably go late round 1 and may fall into the beginning portion of round 2.

In regards to Nicks though.. he pulled a hamstring and put on some weight. Like 15 pounds of weight, and while there are mixed reports about whether or not he trimmed back down.. the fact he let himself balloon that much in a month had some people concerned.

Myself personally, I wouldn't care.. and I think Nicks will be a fine WR. But would not be surprised if Heyward-Bey and Britt go before he does.

Just an update for your next draft Nick. The bears signed another right tackle.

The Bears on Wednesday bolstered their offensive line by agreeing to terms with free agent tackle Kevin Shaffer on a three-year contract. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Shaffer, who turned 29 earlier this month, is a seven-year veteran who started 47 of 48 games the past three seasons with the Cleveland Browns.

The 6-5, 315-pounder signed with the Browns in 2006 as an unrestricted free agent after spending his first four NFL seasons with the Atlanta Falcons.

Shafer is expected to compete for the starting right tackle position in Chicago.
