I appreciate the feedback, but tell me why it's horrible. The Ravens' pass rush is one of the areas that I think could use some improvement; they've been kind of hovering in the low 30s in sacks the last two seasons after hitting the 60 mark in 2006. Terrell Suggs doesn't sound as if he's going to give them a discount long-term on a contract after being tagged for the second year in a row, and will probably be looking to start negotiations in the Dwight Freeney range at least. Maybin is a guy who is still developing and whom the Ravens could take and work behind Suggs, grooming him for the future if they don't want to pay Suggs that kind of money. WR and CB were other considerations, but Maybin IMO could be viewed as the best player available at that point and gives Baltimore some options with the future of their front seven.
Next year is a beginning to the uncapped years. SO... with that said. Suggs will get a long term deal.
The Ravens are going to go Widereceiver, Corner and then LB. You can tell this by the fact that Ozzie isn't resigning Mason (who only has 1 year left). Which means he intends to bring someone in to replace him. Torry Holt was in the facility last saturday, but he left unsigned. So chances are he isn't our guy, that leaves the draft.
whether its Maclin, Harvin, Heyward-Bey, or Nicks. One of them will find themselves in Baltimore. The reason I say Heyward-Bey over the rest though is simple. Heyward-Bey had a work out (the only receiver in the draft so far to do so) with Joe Flacco at the team facility.
Now onto the Maybin thing. I personally don't think Maybin is the right size to play Defensive End. So lets just throw that out the window. If Baltimore were to draft him, then he would take a back-up OLB role. (because Baltimore wouldn't start him over Jarret Johnson or Suggs) Personally, I think Baltimore would/will spend a first rounder only for a guy who can help them win now. Ozzie and Harbaugh both have stated they believe our team is built to win now. A wide receiver, would do that for us.
Maybin is far to raw and came out to early. Not to mention we already know about the other Nittany Lion defensive ends like Courtney Brown, Michael Haynes and Tamba Hali. Who haven't done shit in the NFL.
