In the 40's and 50's poor blacks with nothing to their name but a guitar or a harmonica we're either stolen from, or lowballed because they didn't know what they were giving up.
The blacks songwriters today are completely aware. The small group of them that are writing songs for Rihanna, Britney Spears, and Miley Cyrus can leverage and ask for whatever they want. If they write a song and demand that a black artist gets it, no white man in a business suit is gonna trump them. But of course they don't do this. Just as they don't give all of their songs to whites because they think it'll net them more money in return.
Wasn't it Usher who really pushed Beiber into the mainstream? And wasn't it Ludacris who rapped on his first single?
So if what you say is true Nahste, are you also rightfully placing the blame for this on black artist?
