No More College Hoops. EA Sports Cut NCAA Basketball Series

Personally think this last go at NCAA was really them implementing CBS/ESPN presentation (to be used in other EA titles) and doing it in a way they could get some additional income from.

Cause if they added say more devs to the Madden team to do it, they'd only reap the income from Madden as opposed to some additional sales from NCAA.


I suppose we'll see if Madden 11 rolls out with that presenation.

The real reason they arent making this game anymore is because it didnt sell all the well and they are trying to cut their losses with the Ed O'Bannon class action suit.


I wonder if they'll stop making ncaa football as well, or will we just get random names and numbers from now on?

They did not buy rights 2K walked away from NCAA EA simply paid the licensing fee and 2K made the decision not to

Does this mean 2k will come back? I hope so because they are the only ones who know how to make a good basketball game. With how popular NCAA Mens Basketball is throughout the country, I don't see how there could not be a College Basketball game out there. I think someone will make one next year, hopefully it will be 2k.

I really hate how people think this means 2K will be back. They both canceled their games for the same reasons, you'd think they'd come back?

This is horrible news for any sports gamer. This game was making strides, and really was one patch away this year from being crazy good

they were more than 1 patch away, I would say 2 more years and they could be really good but they definitely made a step in the right direction. This years game was actually playable.


There are times though where things mess up. The commentating is spotty at best, but I don't expect much. I've had players catch the ball while out of bounds and not get a whistle for out of bounds. They're "leads team in so and so stat" graphic when shooting free throws is off by a lot. Sliders are a mess, I turned the opponent shooting to 0 in all categories and my shooting to 100 and played as Maryland (Me) vs VTech and won 90-78 mainly off of end of game free throws.

I would have thought 2k dropped out because the competition with EA and then EA dropped out cause no one likes their NCAA Basketball game. Guess not. Also, it seems like a lot more people like college basketball more than NBA. I know it isn't the same for everyone, but it just seems like college basketball is more popular than NBA so I would have thought the market for a college basketball game would be higher than NBA Live or NBA 2k. Just my thoughts, but apparently not right.

Maybe you'd enjoy the game more if you just let go of 2K. I mean, that game will get old to you eventually, the gameplay engine got very worn out and old for me.

The last CH 2k game came out in 2007, how can you compare presentation with a game from 2009?

CH 2k shut down because of the licensing costs that EA was willing to pay, not the market size.

I never mentioned CH2k8..

I'm saying that EA's game has a ton of flaws. Like fouls for example, you never know what foul is being called. I've had plenty of times where the whistle blows, and all the sudden the other team has the ball and i have no idea what happened, nobody fell down or anything.

Also, as I said I had players catching the ball with two full feet out of bounds in the corner, yet no whistle. Another thing that blows is the animations of players falling out of bounds, it's like an automatic turnover. One more, I'll pass the ball to the low post and my post player won't realize there's a pass thrown to him and the ball just floats out of bounds.

This is by far the best NCAA basketball to date, but in now way are the 1 patch away from being a great game. They still need a few years. They were definitely on the right track though.

This. I don't care what people think, CHOOPS' Legacy mode is one of, if not the best modes on any sports game on 360.

And it's from 2007, imagine if they updated it..

As gamers, we all lose. There won't be any college basketball game next year, people seem to forget that.
