James Burton.

James Burton is probably best known for his days with Elvis Preley, but it's really the earlier days with Ricky Nelson, that got me into his music. Burton was born talented, had zero lessons, and started playing semi-pro when he was about 13/14 years old. He is without a doubt one of the greatest guitar players of all-time.​

Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Although I'm one of the few people who enjoy older brother, Jimmie's style/sound more so than Stevie's - I didn't even know about Jimmie until after I started listening to SRV, so I already had a guitar before I was blessed with Jimmie's fantastic style. There's still the whole ''SRV > Jimmie'' argument going around, which I tend to avoid, since again, it's basically impossible to decide who the greatest player of all-time really is, especially with the difference in styles. Who the fuck really cares, anyway? Listen to both. Oh, but - SRV > Jimi Hendrix... Just sayin'.​

Chester 'Chet' Atkins.

I don't really give a fuck about the awards he's won, or even the induction into the hall of fame. Chet Atkins should be on every list that has to do with great guitar players, period. My love for Atkins still isn't as strong as Knopfler's love for the guy, and that's just another thing that makes Knopfler so fucking good - If you want to be the best, you have to look up to the best. And while many of you are probably thinking ''lol @ putting this old bag of shit ahead of Knopfler,'' Knopfler himself has Chet Atkins listed above himself. One of the finest pickers of all-time.. Oh, yeah, Rolling Stone Mag also insists that Joan Jett is a better and more inspirational guitar player than Chet Atkins. I wonder what 12 year old they got to put that list together?​

Duane Eddy.

''The Guitar Man,'' ''The Rebel Rouser,'' the greatest rock and roll instrumentalist of all-time, you choose. Duane Eddy is by far my all-time favorite guitar player to ever pick up a guitar... It's not even close. He is also the one guitar player, who I will actually argue in favor of being..... the greatest guitar player of all-time. This list isn't about that, but Duane Eddy is my #1 choice on both this list, and the greatest of all-time. He's inspired so many guitar players, old and young, that it would take me all day to list half of them. I believe he was also the first ever rock and roll guitar player to have his own sig model, which by the way, is one of the greatest guitars of all-time, too. Who would have guessed? If you don't know who Duane Eddy is, go back to listening to your Guns 'n Roses and Slash albums - this stuff isn't for you.​

List is complete. Again, these are my personal favorites.. Other than numbers 1 & 2, I don't have any opinion on who the ''greatest of all-time'' is. If I had to make a list like that, guys like Santana and Hendrix would certainly make the list over most of the guys I placed in the bottom half of the top 20. They were certainly two of the best, just not my personal favorites. But I'm not ashamed to say that guys like Burton, Atkins, Eddy, SRV, would still get higher spots than both Hendrix and Santana.

What are your thoughts on Tom Morello? I don't know shit about guitar, but he is probably my favorite guitarist. His solos sound unique to me and I am a big fan of Rage Against The Machine and some Audioslave.

I'm a Morello fan, I just don't like the bands he's played for - his style is unique, which is why I like him.. Plus he's a big Clash fan, and that's always a plus.

Hollywood Fats/Michael Mann.

Fats started playing the guitar when he was 10 years old. Started jamming with blues musicians in his teens. He toured with guys like John Lee Hooker and Albert King, but never did reach his full potential, due to his death in 1986 - shortly after this performance. Unfortunately, Fats enjoyed one thing more than playing the guitar - heroin.

Great rockabilly guitarist, and a pretty damn good blues player, too.​
