Part of me things it is an elaborate scheme to get Andrew Luck. The other part of me is in shock that both Shanahans believe in two quarterbacks who are beyond :turrible: in Beck and Grossman. I was talking to a friend today and I really believe that Kellen Clemens will be our starter by the end of the season.

We have the makings of a good line with the zone blocking system. We have a solid group of receivers. The defense is looking great this season. Sadly, we won't do anything if we have those shitty quarterbacks starting.

You think your team is way better than it is. 'Good' isn't how I would characterize that offensive line. I guess you can say the Redskins receivers are solid. The defense looks like it has potential but again DeAngelo Hall is their weak link.

I said we have the makings of a good offensive line. That is completely different from actually having a line. Trent Williams needs to show that his weight loss in the off-season and his worth ethic will carry over to the season. Jammal Brown needs to be healthy and have full range of motion in his hip to be effective. Lichensteiger is a better center than left guard, Montgomery is a better center than guard, and Chris Chester is an athletic lineman, but has never played in a zone-blocking system.

Yes, Deangelo Hall can be classified as a weak link. But the team still has two elite talents in Orakpo and Landry. The secondary outside of Hall is pretty damn impressive. The line, while lacking a top end talent, is two deep at each position (and you want depth in a 3-4 system.) The defense is going to be good. It could be one of the best units if the offense could keep them off the field.

You also won't find me trying to defend Beck. It will defy all logic if he pans out the way Shanahan thinks it will, with either Beck or Grossman. Thats why I think we will end up tanking for Luck, and will end up with Clemens as our starter at some point this season.

One of the bigger draft busts in recent memory, Maybin didn't manage a single sack in two seasons after being the No. 11 overall pick in 2009. Maybin couldn't keep his weight above 225-230 pounds, contributed nothing on special teams, and in camp was buried behind much less heralded linebackers Danny Batten, Antonio Coleman, and Jammie Kirlew. Perhaps a team that liked Maybin before the 2009 draft will put in a waiver claim. His base salary is just $757,500, and Maybin is still only 23 years old.


A source tells CSN Bay Area that the 49ers plan to sign free agent Daunte Culpepper to a one-year contract.
The move obviously reeks of desperation, but at least the 49ers are acknowledging a problem. They're not going to go anywhere with Alex Smith at quarterback. Per CSN Bay Area's Matt Maiocco, however, the Niners would only view Culpepper as a third-stringer with experience who could play in a pinch if needed. The 34-year-old would not be added to compete for the starting job.

Seriously though, the 49ers will struggle this year mainly because we are behind the 8ball with the short offseason and new offense and defense. This season is setup for disaster but I hope the guys at least play hard and learn

I agree, The 49er organization need to really make a push to dump Alex Smith. Every year we hear that "this could be the year" and he flops. Their defense is pretty solid they need to nab a solid QB and another receiving weapon.

I kinda hope the Niners dont make a move for Orton at this point. I dont think he's a QB thats gonna win you a Superbowl. Had the Niners grabbed Nnamdi, still gotten Edwards, and resigned Franklin and Spikes, then I think trading for Orton makes sense. Thats a team that can contend right away. Now, I think it makes more sense to go full rebuild. Continue to revamp the O-Line, beef up the secondary, and get your QB, preferably in that order. Although, if Luck is a viable option, he's a Niner in no time flat.

Nope, but he's definitely gonna get screwed. The better the '9ers do the better off Kaepernick is because if they have a top pick they'll use it on a QB and Kaep will probably get the Drew Stanton treatment. He's better suited in a vertical offense anyways. I was so disappointed when the Raiders didn't nab him.
