I know it won't win, but I really want District 9 to win. I just think it'd be really cool for a science fiction movie to win.

I still have a lot to watch yet, just saw District 9 last night, and as much as I liked it, I'd have to go with Hurt Locker still. Basterds/Up in the Air will be later this week. ''The Messenger'' was a very very good movie, so it's nice to see Woody get at least a nomination. After the recent screw jobs, though, I won't ever watch another awards show.

Nuk, I can honestly tell you that when Woody broke down and cried in the Messengers, I cried a little bit, too. It's the first time I shed some tears while watching a movie in a long time.

with the move to 10 nominees this year, i have actually seen 3 of them, which is unusual since i usually don't watch them until after the show because I am always a year behind, should also see a couple more before that night

I have a feeling Avatar will win Best Picture...however, I won't see most of these films until the Best Picture Showcase.

I've been trying to hunt down a copy of Crazy Heart for a while...unsuccessfully.

Weird year for movies. Not the usual band of Best Picture flicks. Nice to see them expand to ten, but I was upset that "The Hangover" wasn't on the list.

like someone said, The Hangover is kidna overrated. Its the type of movie thats hilarious the 1st time, but not nearly as funny after that.

I've seen all of the best pic noms except Avatar and The Blind Side but should fit those in before awards night. So far, The Hurt Locker seems like a pretty clear choice, to me.

And yes, the move to 10 best pic noms is ridiculous. I hope they go back to 5 soon.

Again, having not seen Avatar I won't pick Cameron, just yet. Bigelow might win for THL but Basterds is so reliant on Tarantino to be good, I went with him.

I'm definitely going to have to come back this one. I've only seen Mulligan and Sidibe's work. I love Precious, dislike An Education but Mulligan was excellent and stood out among a top-notch cast. Sidibe was good but carried a bit more and is overshadowed by Mo'Nique.

Farmiga was good in UitA but Kendrick was better. Neither held a candle to Mo'Nique. Haven't seen the other two yet, but I doubt they'll top her. It's one of the best performances I've seen in a long time.

Interesting category. The Messenger is the only one I haven't seen. Of the other four, I think you can make a case for any of the four. I don't think the strength of THL is in it's screenplay. A Serious Man is just slyly wicked but so far I'm going with IB again.

Another toughie. I just plain didn't like AE so I won't pick that one, even though it might win. I haven't seen In the Loop so I'll eliminate that for the time being. Of the others, I think Precious edges out D9 and UitA.
