-Defense looks much, much improved. I actually saw a pass rush last night!
-Orton was horrible as we all know. However, throwing a pick to Dre' Bly is unacceptable. We all know Dre' Bly can't cover anyone so that had to be a horrible pass. In fact, all the INT's were absolutely horrendous. It's like he can't see DBs at all. And I thought Cutler and Plummer were bad decision makers...
-Simms was throwing darts though. And he didn't look good just because he was against the backups. He was putting a lot of zip on his passes and making good decisions with the ball.
-Eddie Royal is without a doubt a potential #1.
-Peyton Hillis is a star, get him the ball.
-Hope the Moreno injury isn't serious. He and Jordan would be a nice 1-2 punch if LaMont can run like he did last night.
-Say what you will about what we gave up for him, but Alphonso Smith is the real deal. I felt like I was watching Darrent out there again watching him return the ball. I'm very excited to see him in the future.
...Not exactly a great game for us. I'm inspired by our D's performance. They held the Niners under 10 points despite the three picks from Orton, two of which set them up in horrible field position. And that was without Dawkins even. Orton is not looking good, and Simms looks great. If that continues all preseason I would expect to see Simms under center on opening day. I still can't rule us out of the playoffs yet. The AFC West is terrible, and McDaniels and Nolan run great schemes for this roster. You could see some flashes last night. We have no reason to not be optimistic...
...except for Orton...
