Wasn't able to play today...where i am as of now

 

Near the end of chap 3, just beat the boss. Unlocked 2 more roles for szah and vanille. Up to the part with Snow, no idea what's coming up though just that i'm near the end of chap 3 according to my friend.

just started this a little while ago, only about halfway through the first chapter. seems pretty good so far, i know ill have to play a bit longer to fully get all the combat. im interested to see what its like when i have it all unlocked and have every option at my disposal. the graphics are insane. some of the best i've seen.

yeah i figured as much. one thing i dont like about RPG's is that most of them hold your hand and the "tutorial phase" seems to last forever. thats one reason why i loved demons souls (even though its on the other end of the rpg spectrum then FF). they just threw you right in and let you figure everything out , your instantly immersed into the game meanwhile in FF (and white knight chronicles which i just beat recently) its 10+ hours before you finally have everything at your disposal and all the tutorial stuff is done

I'm certain that there is no wrong way to go about your parties roles. However, Hope imo is more valuable as a medic as I use Vanille as the Saboteur.

FF13 is the first game i wanted to buy anyways and that 250 GB HD is FTW!!

Like I said, there is no right or wrong way to do it. Each character can play a given role. I put Vanille as a Saboteur for the same reason you just mentioned, she learns moves that no one else does. To each their own I suppose?

It really helped me during the fight with Odin, having Lightening ravage and Hope heal was the way to go, I felt. It took up most of the doom clock but still got the job done.

If you already have a PS3, I'd just get FF for it. On the 360 the frame rate slows, and doesn't look as good when compared to the PS3. (I'm sure fan boys are going to jump all over this). However, if you absolutely have to get the 360 it's not a bad purchase for a bundle.

I went with the same tactic. You get enough points to max out more than one role. That is the great thing about this battle system the paradigms can turn the tide of the battle in one simple move

At first I didn't think I would like the battle system or the leveling system when I read about them. Then once you play the game and understand them it's a real easy transition from traditional RPG game play. Still it takes some time to master but once you've got it down you'll be five staring every fight, even boss fights.

I've just beaten the giant Bulbasaur in Chapter Five and still don't have control over my entire party.

As for the techniques question? If it's a new creature you're going to need to use Libra, or equip a Librascope. Once you have the information on the creature your characters will attack their weaknesses.

Edit: Also note, you only control the party leader during battle. There is no way to switch during battle.

I was very disappointed in final fantasy X-2 , and 12 wasnt much better. I am not sure I want to go buy 13 yet, so just wondering, is it any good? I want to hear some positive things about this game before I decide to go buy it.

I've wrapped up about a third of the game so far, and I can say that I'm not disappointed. This Final Fantasy feels like a FF for the casual player but the hardcore guys can get a kick out of it also. There's really not much to knock on this game.

i'm at chapter 7 (Hope and Snow boss fight). It's getting very difficult lol.

I'm loving it, though. the battle system really forces you to be on you toes at all time (even with the normal enemies).

Im on chapter 5 right after u get odin with the black dude sazh? and vanille. Im just grinding crystal points.

i havent been able to play for 2 days and i cant wait to go home and play tommorrow.

sidenote-the odin fight was the first time where it felt like i had to really think about my paradigms a lot.

Won't be the last time either. After a 2 day hiatus form the game to beat God of War 3 I can now get back to this game. I am at chapter 9.

Just curious as to what everyone's been developing Sazh in? Maybe it's normal, but the first time you really get to play with him as the group leader (with Vanille) his offense is just so weak. I know he only has Ravager & Synergist to work with for right now, but I just wanna know if it's me that's having issues with him. I even equipped him with the Deneb Duellers (increased his magic by 10, strength decreased by 4).

Wait until you get the Commando role with him. He'll get pretty strong.

ok so i'm only about 6 or 7 hours in and am on chapter 3 and just got to the part where you go back to snow who's by himself trying to free serah. my question is once you get everyone maxed out, how do you go about getting more roles or even something else to "learn" or is that something that will come later. i'm on level 2 but i can only see level one to increase.
