*OFFICIAL* NBA LIVE 10 Demo Impressions Thread

Hey guys,

Our demo drops tomorrow for XBOX 360 gold members (17th for silver and ps3), and I wanted to set this thread up for any and all feedback. First thing's first though, we've changed a TON of things in NBA LIVE 10 (including controls), so if you haven't seen these already, I encourage you to take a look at some of these vids so you'll be prepared for the demo. One other thing, yes we know VC doesn't wear a headband for the Magic, but you'll see one on him in the demo. It won't be like this in the final version.

I'm seeing good impressions so far on OS. That's a good sign.

So far im ehh on the demo while controller issues are holding me back a little (I always want to use the right stick to shoot lol) I've noticed that overall going to the hoop is a lil bit of a challenge as the cpu knows that a big men not in the paint is not a danger and plays some help D.

also a negative to me is how the court feels crowded after playing 2k and the DC(draft combine) the court seems to small for the players on it almost like being squished

but the dribbling is very nice

also sounds while not really that important seem not up to par with the 2k series imo

is anyone else loving how the plays develop I am you dont have to start out in some crappy square and if you do it flashes real quick

lol at the hair on the players in the hangar looks like it fades away sometimes and is hardly there

seeing some crazy plays where the player spins putting their back to the basket a little bit too much even on 3 pointers

Played a lil bit in the practice arena this morning, Im sure with more practice, I could get the hang of the dribbling. Although, it really doesnt feel like Im hoopin. Moving the stick in a direction to make a move kinda dumbs it down.

Button shooting seems so primitive, another habit of trying to hit that "launch pad" and hitting the RS for a shot.

Not writing this game off cuz I didnt get to play the 2 min quarters but I do see the the game has made drastic strides.

Skins tones...why does everyone look so light in the hangar? Is it just the lighting? Demo bug?

All the players look shiny as hell

as for the gameplay

I think it's a big improvement from last year (not saying alot) . The X for shooting free throw thing HAS TO GO . Defense is better on this than 2k9 but again that's not saying much .

I would give the demo a 6/10

i think i remember you saying this is a whole new team working on live this year, and the game has improved drastically thats for sure.

Big step in the right direction, in a couple years this could rival the 2k series.

I'm liking what I see like I said before. HUGE improvement from last year. I think it's going to be a little bit more challenging for cheesers this year. I've had my share of wow moments and also the WTF moments, definitely more wow moments though. There must be a bug for the skin color in the Hangar. I thought Chris Paul was Jason Kidd when I first seem him, lol. Like I've been reading, playing with each player in the hangar feels totally different. Maneuvering around with Kobe and Lebron felt dead on, most of the did but them two stuck out the most to me. The graphics look good, but the player models look cartoonish in a way. I'm loving the presentation and the stat overlays. My biggest gripe would have to lack of On-Ball defense. Sometimes players just run right pass me and theres nothing I can do about it. Also I'm loving contested layups animations, but sometimes transition into that animation looks a little iffy sometimes. Another problem is my defense checking the wrong people sometimes after a score. I like how VC tied me up and stole the ball after I came down the court with Kobe and pump faked. I also just seen an illegal screen by DW, that's a pretty cool addition (Not sure if it was in 09 or not).

guys, the lighting in the Hangar is not a glitch. Consider where the light is coming from, and what kind of light it is. You guys are used to lighting in basketball games that's an artificial light (arena lighting). We have alot of natural lighting in the hangar (due to windows). You'll see different lighting in arenas too making players skin look lighter or darker (Utah light / Chicago dark)...

As for the defense, it really depends on who you're guarding. If it's a guy who is quick, stop playing up in his face. Gap him a bit and force him to shoot the jumper or run into you drawing a collision. You'll get the hang of it for sure, but I'm glad you guys can't play good d at the moment. Learning curve.

the defense is great but i just cant get used to blocking just pressing Y just doesnt feel right
