SI.com's Peter King calls Chester Taylor "the hidden skill-position gem of the unrestricted free-agent crop."

Taylor turns 31 in September, but he doesn't have a lot of tread on his tires the past three years. King suggests he could end up as a "solid co-number one" back for teams such as the Chargers, Redskins, or Lions. We wouldn't rule out the Patriots, either, as his strengths combine those of Sammy Morris, Kevin Faulk, and Fred Taylor. The Vikings will likely have to overpay to keep their third-down back.

Malcolm Kelly says new coach Mike Shanahan indicated to him that Kelly will be a big part of the Redskins' offense in 2010.

Shanahan allegedly assured Kelly that "we're going to find ways to get you the ball." "That was something I haven't even heard before in my two years here," Kelly said. "And it was coming from a guy who I know has went out and won championships. That's one thing that he knows how to do - he finds ways to get his playmakers the ball." Kelly had an 84-yard catch in the Skins' 2009 finale, but has otherwise shown no signs of being a "playmaker."

Defensive coordinator Jim Haslett is reportedly interested in bringing free agent DE Leonard Little to the Redskins.

The Rams have also shown interest in re-signing Little if the 35-year-old opts to continue playing. Little would be a good fit with the Redskins, as he knows Haslett's scheme and the team could use a situational pass rusher

ESPN's John Clayton expects the Redskins to use a first- and third-round tender on restricted free agent Jason Campbell.

In other words, Clayton doesn't believe Campbell is going anywhere this offseason. Even if the team drafts Sam Bradford at No. 4, he'd likely sit for a year and develop behind Campbell. The Redskins could opt to go with an offensive tackle in the first round instead.

New Redskins running backs coach Bobby Turner said that Clinton Portis "definitely" has something left."

The new Redskins' regime continues to have good things to say about Portis, but it doesn't mean that his roster spot or starting job is safe. Portis will have to participate in offseason workouts while the Redskins shop for their running back of the future. Portis is set to earn $6.43 million in guaranteed money in 2010.

Beat writer John McClain does not believe the Texans will apply the franchise tag on CB Dunta Robinson.

It would cost nearly $11M to tag Robinson in 2010. The Texans have not approached Robinson about a long-term deal, nor have they indicated to him that they will use the tag. McClain predicts the Redskins will sign Robinson if the Texans let him go.

Redskins DE Jeremy Jarmon (ACL surgery) expects to be ready for training camp this summer.

Jarmon sustained the injury in late November, so he's no lock to be fully recovered by August. The Redskins forfeited a 2010 third-rounder to grab Jarmon in the supplemental draft. Less than a year later, he's a man without a position in the team's new 3-4 defense. Chances are he'll have to switch to outside linebacker.

After speaking with coach Mike Shanahan, Jason Campbell believes the plan is for him to stay with the Redskins in 2010.

"[Shanahan] told me that he liked how I'd handled everything over the past couple of years and the whole conversation was real positive," said Campbell. The Redskins are expected to use a first- and third-round tender on the restricted free agent, which would scare off potential suitors. He remains a good to open 2010 as the starter.

The Arizona Republic reports that the Cardinals will not apply the franchise tag to LB Karlos Dansby for the third consecutive year.

The Cardinals will let Dansby hit the open market while "monitoring" the situation. Realistically, his Arizona days are over. As one of the premier names in an ultra-shallow unrestricted free agent market, Dansby is a lock to land a mega-contract. The Pro-Bowl caliber linebacker is seeking $30M in guarantees, with the Giants, Dolphins, Redskins, and Chargers tops on his list of potential landing spots.

NBC Washington reports that Redskins CB Byron Westbrook was arrested early Friday on suspicion of drunk driving.

Westbrook was pulled over at 2AM after police observed him changing lanes rapidly, and was discovered to have alcohol on his breath. Brian's younger brother failed "several" sobriety tests and refused a breathalyzer. With a new coaching staff in Washington, Westbrook could get a pink slip shortly

The Rams are scheduled to meet with the player rep for free agent DE Leonard Little next week at the NFL Combine.

Little was expected to consider retirement this offseason, but it sure seems like he plans on playing another season. According to the St. Louis Globe-Democrat, the Redskins have denied reports that they're interested in the pass rusher.

Several people familiar with Chris Samuels' thinking tell Redskins beat writer Jason Reid that they still expect him to retire.

Samuels and the Redskins are keeping quiet about the six-time Pro Bowler's status. Doctors have reportedly told Samuels, who has a neck/spine injury, that he may never walk again if he prolongs his football career. The Redskins are proceeding as if they won't have Samuels

Since we havent done SHIT in FA this offseason (God I hope McCoy or Su fall to us) I cant see drafting a QB with a busted should (twice) or Claussen, the guy cant throw the fucking ball 40 yards. Unfortunately ND has the contract and thats what I was forced to watch Saturday afternoons while Im at work.

All his "big" passing yard games were bullshit. A 5 yard slant that the WR broke for 75 yards an under thrown deep pass that the Corner feel on. If they draft him, I hope we go 0-16

Free agent NT Maake Kemoeatu has a Tuesday visit scheduled with the Redskins.

The Redskins are desperate for a true nose tackle with the move to a 3-4 defense. Kemoeatu has previously stated that he won't be ready to take a physical and sign until May or June, so the 'Skins could be just kicking his tires here.

Redskins signed OL Artis Hicks to a three-year contract worth a maximum of $9 million.

His versatility is his best quality. Hicks has filled in as a starter at left tackle, right tackle, and right guard over the past three seasons. The Redskins have a hole at right guard, so Hicks is likely ticketed for the interior.

Free agent Willie Parker is scheduled to visit the Redskins on Monday.

Parker is beyond the point where he'll be considered for starting jobs, but the Redskins don't have another back on the roster other than Clinton Portis. Parker could play a complementary role and add depth behind Portis

The Redskins have scheduled a Monday visit for free agent ILB Larry Foote.

The Skins clearly aren't satisfied with the idea of moving usual WLB Rocky McIntosh inside in their new 3-4 alignment. Foote's visit with Washington is slated to take place before his mid-week trip out to meet the Cardinals

The Seahawks and Redskins have reportedly shown interest in free agent OL Barry Sims.

Sims is 35 and would be a backup on a good offensive line, but Seattle and Washington's front fives don't qualify. He has the ability to start at both guard and tackle positions, and held up well on Alex Smith's blind side when Joe Staley went down last year. San Francisco is interested in keeping him.

Free agent OT Barry Sims is reportedly in talks to sign with the Redskins.

The aging Sims had struggled coming into last season, but he held up well as the Niners' left tackle while Joe Staley was injured. He shouldn't be counted on for more than a backup role in 2010

Redskins signed NT Maake Kemoeatu to a two-year, $7 million contract.

Kemoeatu is coming off a dicey Achilles' tear that required two separate surgeries, so this is a risky signing. But if healthy, Kemoeatu could play nose tackle and allow Albert Haynesworth to focus on his more natural end spot in the Redskins' new 3-4 scheme. Kemoeatu remains a big question mark for Week 1, so the Skins shouldn't be counting on him to start
