Arrington still salty over his contract situation from years ago.

Evan Royster was a sixth round draft pick that made the team last year and had two 100 yard games. But I don't expect him to realize that, that would mean actually putting in work in his craft, which we know he didn't do in Washington.

Yes he is, and so have Garcon and Robinson. O-line also doing better than expected, though to be fair, RGIII also doing a great job of extending plays and just showing all around great awareness.

Yeah, wrist happened to start the game, and then something with his foot. Still, offense is doing pretty damn well despite missing him, and the Redskins have made fewer mental mistakes.

Look, if I were you guys, I'd stay away from Shanahan's stable of RBs in fantasy. He always starts the one you bench.

Griffin looks good, but he's gotten some luck, especially on some of those throws off his back foot.

Oline is okay, but the Saints' pass rush is meh.

I'm pretty underwhelmed by Orakpo as a Redskins so far. At best, he's a good pass rusher and that's about it. Unfortunately, we're not playing in a 4-3 and he's supposed to be a linebacker.

So has Griffin. Morris also had a good game, but to be fair to everything, the game plan had the Saints linebackers confused at all stretches.

I like the guy as a change of pace back, but I'm not as enamored with him as a lot of other Redskins fans are.

Also, only sacked once and finished with 139.9 QB Rating.

Obviously, the rating is going to go down, but I was more impressed with a defense that is known for being aggressive had to change their game plan and play extremely conservative and out of their element. That's a huge game-changing element.

My Pros and Cons for the Redskins yesterday. Also posted it in the Pros/Cons thread. Let me know what you guys thought of the team.

Pros

1.) Rookies on display. RGIII and Alfred Morris both looked legit. RGIII showed great awareness, kept plays going and had a typically aggressive defense holding back. He kept extending plays and excelled on throwing to all parts of the field. Meanwhile, Morris had 96 yards on 28 carries and two TDs, first wearing down the defense and then breaking some decent runs. He keeps going after contact and gets those tough yards, and Morris showed enough to validate the coaching staff's confidence in him and they have already named him the starter next week.

2.) Receivers stepped up. Pierre Garcon had a great debut, and only played a few minutes in the game. Targeted early and often, Garcon had four catches for 109 yards, including an 88 yard TD catch where he outran the Saints secondary. When he left with a foot injury, Aldrick Robinson stepped right up with four catches for 54 yards and a TD. Six other players caught passes, and Santana Moss showed some early success in the slot.

3.) Secondary may not be a weak spot. Many thought the Redskins secondary would be a weak spot, and they performed pretty well. DeJon Gomes played extremely well Meriweather injured, and if that play keeps up, he may have one of the starting spots even when Meriweather returns. Cedric Griffen also played very well, and if he stays healthy (a huge if considering his history with injuries) the Redskins have a very good cornerback.

4.) I was upset about Graham Gano being released, but Billy Cundiff hit all four field goals and looks to be a good addition. Lets see how he holds up when he gets into a pressure situation.

5.) Offensive line played a good game against one of the better defensive lines in the league. They needed this confidence booster, especially with Lichensteiger returning from knee reconstruction and a new starter at RT.

Cons

1.) I loved how we called the offense early on, and it seems we built off the previous series and had the Saints D on the ropes. However, late in the game, play calling on both sides got extremely conservative and this allowed the Saints to get back in the game. This can not continue to happen, as it's happened quite a bit with Shanahan when the Redskins are ahead. Keep pushing for more points, and do what you are doing to move the ball, don't change the game plan and risk losing the game. This can lose games more than anything else, and I hate seeing the Redskins letting teams back into games.

2.) The special teams unit will need some work. The first attempted punt was blocked, and with the way the FG protection team was last season, allowing five kicks to be blocked, this is not a good sign. I hope this doesn't continue, and I still believe in Danny Smith, but if it does, this could be his last season in Washington.

3.) Backup running backs need to produce. Even with the starter, Shanahan likes to change his backs up. Helu had one catch for 21 yards, but the rest of his catches and his two rushing attempts didn't even produce 10 total yards. Evan Royster had two rushes for 10 yards, but that was the extent of his playing time. Injuries have not helped Helu (both Achilles) or Royster (knee) but the bottom line is that the rest of the roster produced on offense, and one of them needs to step up going forward.

very good analysis TT.......matter of fact; excellent. you broke it down to a science IMo.

the move to start Morris was much better than expected. and i was a little suspect when they announced Helu was going to be the #2 RB.....but like i said in a different thread; the coaching saw somehtings we couldnt. great call on that cuz Helu does NOT have that kind of running gm.

Morris named the starter already for next week. New long-snapper brought in, Sundberg is on the IR now. Interesting practice squad move, as former Navy RB Eric Kettani added to it. Will be interesting to see if they eventually add him to the roster and give him some carries.

Washington Redskins rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week Wednesday following his strong NFL debut against the New Orleans Saints.

Griffin led the Redskins to a 40-32 victory over the Saints by completing 19 of 26 passes for 320 yards and two touchdowns, with a 139.9 passer rating. He also rushed for 42 yards on 10 carries.

Griffin became the first player in league history to pass for more than 300 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in his NFL debut.

He also is the first Redskins player to win the award since running back Clinton Portis did it in 2008 after a 145-yard effort against the Philadelphia Eagles. Griffin is the first Redskins rookie to receive the honor since Rod Gardner in Week 6 of the 2001 season.
