Panthers willing to trade Jonathan Stewart

Anything more than a third for Stewart is too much considering the amount of running backs in the league. Honestly, I am still not sure why Williams got that massive deal last year when they had Stewart on the roster, but that is just me. I do agree with your opinion on the Marshall deal, more or less.

There is a large amount of RB's, but Stewart is the total package. People that have seen his games which I've seen every single one know he is a three down back, great work ethic, will do it all and never complain or go public about any issues. He's the type of back that makes the entire team better and really saved Cam Newton's life with a few key blocks on pass rushers that had what looked to be free shots at him. I will be upset if he is moved, and would much rather prefer to have Deangelo Williams moved, but that prob won't happen.

Stewarts contract would prob be similar to DeAngelo's... why wouldn't they want to move that shitty Williams contract for space to sign Stewart and keep the better all around back who is younger and fresher.

The reason they will end up trading Stewart is because his trade value is higher and they have to let him walk because of Williams contract next season.

Of course they rather get rid of DeAngelo, but it's impossible thanks to the deal they gave him. If they cut him, it costs close to $10 million against the cap and no team is willing to trade for a shitty contract of a guy who will be a 29-year old runningback when the season begins.

They're stuck with DeAngelo.

Oh I love the guy. If the Redskins had not traded all those picks for RGIII, I think Stewart is one of the few backs you can trade for, and I'd love to see Stewart in burgundy and gold. Regardless, the Redskins are happy with what they drafted last year at running back, and both Helu and Royster show promise.

Williams won't be moved- that contract is just too much for a running back- but I'm still scratching my head over why they re-signed him instead of giving Stewart a contract extension.

He's a star, guy blocks, catches, rushes, plays smart most of all, is young, makes peanuts this year... but it's a "steal" for the Bears to get a guy plagued by drops and domestic abuse and a girlfriend that for some ungodly reason doesn't like to get beat by her man daily for two 3rds, but any more than a 3rd is robbery for Stewart? :rofl:

He's also a guy with one year remaining that will cash in very soon for possibly a different team that trades for him. Just because one stupid deal was made, doesn't mean another will.

While I would love to have him, I wouldn't be willing to give up anything more than a 3rd. According to Glazer, the Panthers asked the Browns for their 2nd and the Browns laughed in their faces. Any team that offers a trade for him basically is either renting him, or will require that he agrees to an extension before they will trade for him.

There are too many talented RBs in this league to give a high draft pick for Stewart, and in turn, offer him the huge contract he'll ask for.

I disagree. I think most of the RBs in the league suck. With Stewart you get a proven player. The only tricky part is his contract situation, but, unless you are the Bears, most teams are willing to pay for production. Maybe I am overrating Stewart, but I think he can/is one of the top RBs in the NFL. He's just been in a weird situation at Carolina.

I think he is one of the best HB's too, and if not for that extension they gave DeAngelo Williams he would of started every game and had a monster year, but when Carolina gave Williams that extension they didn't know what Cam Newton would be, they wanted to make sure they kept one of the best HB tandems in the league and overpaid for it.

Different teams, different offenses, different QBs, I get all that. Just curious so I checked out the 2011 production of the Panthers two backs and the Giants two backs.

Bradshaw and Stewart were basically the same (similar TDs, rushes and yardage).

Williams had more rushing yards than Jacobs but their rushes and TDs were similar, too.

It's important to have that two-headed monster in the NFL these days...Giants will be looking to add one in the draft with Jacobs gone.

It was a down year for the Giants by the way with a weaker OL than usual during the regular season. I imagine the Panthers had a strange year since Cam Newton breaks one off if necessary and all that comes with a rookie QB.
