A big plot hole that bugged me:

 

was that they werent getting people they knew to come and stay with them and make it into a bigger deal. You dont have to even film that part if the chick is going to bitch about it but just at least do it.

HOLY FUCK.

I've never seen an audience as riled up as this one was by the end of the movie. First 45 min makes me want to fall asleep but it gets really good at the end. A couple WTF moments.

The two parts that got me to shiver:

 

When the bitch gets dragged out by the foot and down the hall

 

Obviously the end when the guy gets thrown into the wall and the bitch shows up. I knew it was coming but still had me shocked

The original ending is the one I posted. Thats one of the reasons it was shelved for awhile. When thoughts of remaking it came up somewhere along the lines Spielberg saw it and suggested the current ending.

Again this is all internet talk so not sure what the factual stuff is.

Katie returns from killing Micah to sit zombie-like by the bed. Hours and hours later we hear the police arrive, discovering whatever bloody mess downstairs. They come upstairs with guns drawn--at which moment Katie suddenly snaps out of her possessed stupor, whimpering and crying for help, getting up and walking toward the armed policeman....not realizing that she's still covered with blood and carrying a very big knife. The cop tells her to halt but she's too hysterical to understand. So he shoots her--a panicked defensive response further triggered by the demon's slamming the bedroom door shut behind her at just the right alarming moment.

That was by far the worst horror movie I've seen in years.

Think you're in the minority on this one. 85% of rottentomatoes critics liked it, and while the entire movie wasn't scary, the "build up the ending" effect the movie had was outstanding.

Like I've said, I've never heard an audience so "WTF!!" at the end of a movie like this one made everyone.

I don't think the point was to scare you when:

 

The door opens and closes. That's more for building up the plot.

saw it tonight. Extremely well done and very creepy. Unfortunately not as scary as it could have been for me since the people sitting behind needed to comment on every fucking scene. Still enjoyed it.

 

The part were she got dragged out of bed and the ending were definite holy shit moments. That smile to the camera just before the last night scene (after the BF tried to get her to leave) was really fucking creepy.

 

I was LMAO when the psychic walked in the house the second time and after 5 seconds was like, I need to get the fuck out.

 

The parts were the girl was possesed/standing over the bed and than started fast forwarding reminded me of the Sims when you'd put the game on double time.

Trailer scares the fuck out of me, but I'm intrigued. I disappointed that isn't as scary as it was made out to be based on the non-spoiler stuff in this thread.

The guys at DVD talk and other places were convinced that was the original ending.

The one you described was described other places as a rumored ending.
Guess it all adds to the mystery.
