Rookie quarterbacks are coming in and starting like crazy. ELEVEN of the starting quarterbacks in the league are three year pros or less. FOUR of those eleven are rookies. I don't think that's ever happened before in the NFL.

I think that 10 years ago you had numerous awful QBs starting in the NFL, and then all those bad QBs were replaced in short order. So you have a lot of better, younger QBs all getting a chance to play right away. I'm looking at who some of the leading passers were in 2003, and you have guys like Kitna, Aaron Brooks, Tommy Maddox, Quincy Carter, Delhomme, Joey Harrington, Leftwich, Jeff Blake, Jake Plummer, Patrick Ramsey, Jay Fiedler, Kelly Holcomb, Tim Couch, Doug Johnson, Kordell Stewart (Bears)....ALL those guys are terrible, and thats over half the league. I didn't even include guys like Kerry Collins and Vinny Testaverde.

Also, it seemed like the entire generation of young QBs of the early 2000's all ended up being bad. Harrington, Couch, Akilli Smith, etc....all those guys were supposed to be the next wave of great QBs but it never panned out.

I did. Steve Young is the first guy I think of when I think Aaron Rodgers (funny how both of these guys dealt with legends being in front of them). Steve Young was more gutsy than him, but I feel like Rodgers is more complete than Young(not accomplishment wise yet, but just playing style wise). They both are very similar though.

I want to pretend that Vinny Testaverde never existed.

This new wave looks like they're here to stay. Flacco in Baltimore, Ryan in Atlanta, Freeman in Tampa, Newton in Carolina, McCoy in Cleveland, Bradford in St. Louis. But, that "new wave" in the early 2000's blew and it's the guys who got a chance in place of them are more memorable than the guys today. Kelly Holcomb, Tommy Maddox, Billy Volek... I mean, no one's ever going to remember that last year we let Brian St. Pierre pretend he could be a QB again and John Skelton actually see game time. Joe Webb, we'll remember for a bit, but none of the other two.

I still think had those guys started there careers under the new rules they'd have done alot better.Physically half of those guys arent any worse than some who are throwing for 3-400 yards a game now. I think you have to be particularly bad to not succeed in this league. Im really not handing todays guys over to some amazing crop of arms.

To contrast my last statement.....

3 of those guys had/have no business being in a starting lineup from the get go. Thats about as unpolished and mentally weak a group as you'll find. You could make a case that it shows its not as easy as I say to be successful ..but I do think this group was bordering on atrocious to begin with.
