He is a great player, he isn't a good team player. The Pistons have a team philosophy and AI didn't fit. I'll admit, I was kind of excited about having him on the team. I thought maybe we needed a guy like Iverson, I was wrong. He is a great player, their is no doubt about that.

I will shit on AI though because of the way his attitude changed. At first he was all gung ho about winning, saying he'd come off the bench if he had to. Then, when we decide to make him come off the bench, he throws a hissy fit. AI is a me first player, some teams need a guy like that, the Pistons don't.

but with iverson tho, heres a guy that is pretty much a lock for a hall of fame spot..im not all for the "sit out the rest of the year" thing.. but just put yourself in his shoes.. you wouldnt want to come off the bench either.

Iverson has been my favorite player post MJ.. and I still love the guy. I would welcome him with open arms to the Pacers.

Isn't the fact he got to the finals in 2001 irrelevant to today? That was 8 years ago.

Shawn Kemp and Gary Payton got their team to the finals once before, that doesn't mean I'm going to sign them onto my team.

The fact remains AI said he would fine with it, then bitched about it. That's my main gripe. If you didn't like coming off the bench from the start, say you didn't like, then I'll respect your decision. I have absolutely no respect for a liar or a hypocrite.
 
If y'all really believed AI playing politically correct and saying "he'd do what the team thought was best" than y'all dont know how the business works. As I said, AI was being PC, and there was also quotes of him saying he'd prefer NOT to come off the bench and that it would be uncomfortable for him. Is his back jocking him for real? Im sure it is, and im also sure hes not too quick to rush anything because hes not too inspired to come off the bench. He says himself in the famous speach, "what scoring champion and MVP you know come off the bench?", and I agree with him. Question dudes heart for "quitting" on Detroit this year, but look at the 13 years that guy has done nothing but bust his ass night in and night out and play with all kinds of injuries. Its always been easy to hate on AI, but I got nothing but respect for dude. He is the definition of a warrior.

I'm not gonna hate on dude for saying what he thinks and not just giving cookie cutter answers, but this mfer is the definition of cancer. Dude has played through all kinds of injuries in his career, now all of a sudden one sidelines him, partially because he's too butthurt to accept his role. For all his hard work and hustle he has 0 rings, and with his attitude I don't see how he ever expects to win one.

The guy averaged 6.2 assists a game for his career, thats way above average. This for a guy that has avged 27 pts a game in his career, thats pretty damn impressive. The "not wanting to practice" obviously hasnt been an issue for his career.

Listen I like Iverson but his style of play / attitude isn't conducive to winning championships, which I'd hope is his goal. He is 33 years old now, isn't getting any younger, so to piss away a chance at winning this year (and a major reason for doing so being that you refuse to accept your role) is just dumb. And yeah Pistons aren't winning shit with or without him but, he isn't gonna have too many more chances. This isn't 2001, no ones trying to build a team around dude anymore.
 
I always respected Iverson’s toughness and determination, but I’ve never been a fan of his style of play. Other than making a run to the Finals in a depleted Eastern Conference Iverson’s teams have always hovered around mediocrity. Iverson is a great scorer, but when a large portion of your team’s shots come from an inefficient scorer it makes for a tough situation. Iverson jacked up a lot of shots throughout his career and the only reason his assist numbers look half way decent is because he by-in-large dominated the ball the majority of the time. For the most part people just love rooting for Iverson because he was flashy, tough and undersized, which is all great, but in reality his style of play and ego aren’t conducive to him being the lead player on a championship team let alone a role player on a mediocre team.
