Well i looked him up and two things are clear, he is fast. He can run his forty in the high 4.4s and he can lay the wood. kiper said he should've been drafted 5th round the earliest so this is an extreme reach. When the pick came up i was willing to bet anything the Raiders were going Michael Johnson which would've been a good pick. Right now i am disappointed but you never know what may happen.

Kiper also said he'd have been a reach in the 5th but not as bad.

FWIW.. Mitchell carried the distinct honor of being the 73rd best safety in his draft guide this year. I didn't even know there were 73 eligible safeties in the draft.

yea and you can find scouts that say the opposite. "Actual Scouts", as if teams like the Oakland Raiders don't have those.

One man see's a bad receiving, but fast wide receiver. While others see a receiver that has trouble running routes but other then that is damn good.

Well they took a guy that should have been drafted 15 spots later and passed on the two best WR's in the draft for him... then followed that up by taking a safety so bad that NFL.com and ESPN didn't even have bios or grades written up for him.. and NFL Network/ESPN didn't even have a highlight reel to show.

So it seems the Raiders don't have scouts... or if they do.. senile Al Davis doesn't care what they think because he's overruling them with two of the biggest reaches in modern day draft history.
 
I agree with the 2nd one, but I still say Heyward-Bey is only a reach because Crabtree was still on the board.

Maclin, Bey, Nick and Britt were all equal in my eyes (for different reasons). While Percy Harvin fell for off the field reasons.
 
Oakland's 2nd round pick was so out there, ESPN Insider doesn't even have info or a scouting report on him.

But then there are the Raiders who simply write down a list of 40-yard dash times and draft from there. The Darrius Heyward-Bey pick was embarrassing because Oakland could have likely traded down several spots if they were convinced they wanted the speedy, if inconsistent, receiver. But when the Raiders took Ohio safety Michael Mitchell in the second round, they made themselves joke to the rest of the league.When NFL.com expert Mike Mayock heard the pick, he couldn't believe it.

"The Ohio University safety?" with a tone of incredulous disbelief. "I had never heard of Mike Mitchell before three weeks ago when he ran a good time at his pro day."

Because of that good workout (Mitchell ran a 4.43 40-yard dash), Mayock bumped him up to a seventh-round draft grade. NFL.com doesn't have any analysis or overview on him, because they didn't expect him to be drafted. ESPN.com's Scouts Inc ranked 80 safeties ($) coming into the draft, Mitchell wasn't one of them. They've slotted him at No. 81 now. Mel Kiper Jr. said that he had Mitchell ranked somewhere between his 40th and 70th safety.

I think he meant in the entire country not just the ones eligable for the draft. Still isnt good though.
