Rams interested in Vick?

Lots of rumors swirling about this is STL...can't say i'm very happy about it:

What seemed totally far-fetched last summer, as Vick was about to get out of prison, no longer seems like such a longshot in St. Louis. Because Vick remains under contract with Philadelphia, Rams general manager Billy Devaney can't speak publicly on the topic.

But Devaney has consistently said the team will explore all options to improve the club. He has made it a point in interviews to note that the "four pillars" approach is being softened this offseason. In others words, the Rams are more likely to take a chance on a so-called "character-risk" player than last year at this time.

Devaney worked for the Atlanta Falcons before coming to St. Louis, so he's very familiar with Vick. In fact, Devaney visited Vick in prison while Vick was serving 18 months for running a dogfighting operation.

Reid has been one of the major career influences for Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo. So when Reid talks about how he was impressed with Vick, and the "changes" he made in his life, that will resonate with Spagnuolo.

Even Vick in his best season wouldn't be able to save this Rams team, so just be happy it means they won't reach on a QB this year in the draft and can get one next year.

IMO, it's worth a try, assuming the Rams release Bulger.

Vick can, at the very least, bring some excitement to an otherwise unexciting franchise.

Yeah, if they run a lot with Jackson and Vick goes off 50% of the time when it's a "pass play", you can be sure that by week 3, it will be 9 man in the box all day.

Bulger has one very expensive year left on his deal. 50/50 he'll be cut, but he's also talking about retiring. The guy is beat to shit. I've never seen a player take the kind of punishment he did over the last 4 or 5 years.

The Rams would probably be a good fit for Vick. Even if they keep Bulger, they will still need a QB since Bulger is out 50% of the time. Also, they have no WRs or TEs, so its not like the Rams will need Vick to distribute the ball to their playmakers. Hand the ball off to Jackson, occassional throw one to Jackson, and run the ball yourself.

Considering he hasn't really played much, I am not so sure that is true. My guess is he's better because's he's had to focus solely on football to get back after coming from jail. I'd take a gamble on Vick too, there are worse players to take a gamble on..

Once again, similar to a BusBoyIsBack argument, Mike Vick somehow gets better BY NOT PLAYING!

I can only imagine what would happen if Vick fell into a 10-year coma....when he woke up people would speculate that Vick is Jim Thorpe and Johnny Unitas rolled into one.

I would be too. He'll never be what he once was, but he'll come back just as well as Ricky Williams did imo. Vick will still have a big impact on the game.

When Vick was with the Falcons, we were the #1 rushing team in the league not just because of his added yards but because the constant threat of a Vick bootleg pulled defenders away from the play and opened up cutback lanes. If he can still be a threat to turn the corner, Vick will improve Jackson's numbers. As for the passing game... ¯\(°_o)/¯ he'll probably be better than Keith Null, right?

Dunn and Duckett averaged the same or more yards when Vick was out as when he was playing.
