It seems Sony is readying another HD collection of classic PlayStation 2 games.

Amazon France has a product listing for Ratchet & Clank HD Collection. It has a release date of May 16, 2012. No other details from the listing were revealed.

This doesn't confirm a collection is coming just yet, but history shows it's likely to be true. To date, Sony has released HD collections for God of War, Sly Cooper, ICO & Shadow of the Colossus, and Jak and Daxter.

Game Informer has contacted Sony for comment.

I hope they change the controls to R&C1. I went back and tried to play that and controlling the camera with the L1 and R1 buttons sucked.

I think the second and third games had you play the game twice on the hardest difficulty just to fully max out your weapons...

Also, if Deadlocked is included, you're missing half the game due to no MP (same as TM: Black).

Like Seth said the camera controls for the first one are not great, but all the rest of them the game play holds up remarkably well. I just played through them a couple months ago and I've been looking forward to this forever.

Well, if they include all four games I don't think the lack of multiplayer is going to be an issue. Four games for hopefully $40? Fuck yeah!

Yeah, I played them maybe about a year ago. It was the first time playing them and I loved almost every minute of it. There were a few frustrating parts.

Now if they would only add trophies to ToD and QFB.

Price says that the collection is coming to the North America in the fall and to Europe in the spring. The collection will release this fall in North America. Ratchet & Clank HD Collection was announced for Japan in Weekly Famitsu this week under the name Ratchet & Clank 1+2+3 Galaxy Strongest Gorgeous Pack. Famitsu.com has posted screens, which you can see below. As with all Famitsu.com shots, they're on the lower res side and compressed to hell, but you can still see some of the improvements over the original Ratchet & Clank games.

Ratchet & Clank 1+2+3 Galaxy Strongest Gorgeous Pack will be released to retail on July 12 at price TBA. Individual download releases for the three included Ratchet & Clank games are also planned, with the first due on July 12 but the others currently date TBA. Sony will also release Ratchet & Clank 4th HD exclusively as a PSN download.

Ratchet & Clank may be blowing out 10 candles on their cake this year, but Insomniac's forward-thinking design means that their adventures have barely aged a day.

It's a good port, too. Idol Minds, the Sony studio best known for the Jackass-scented ragdoll game Pain, has done a respectful job of upping the resolution without blurring the appeal of the varied and colourful worlds of these games. The broad cartoon style of the series certainly helps, allowing the visuals to be smoothed out without impacting their feel. A reliable frame rate of 60 frames per second keeps things gliding along nicely - and you can opt to play in 3D, at the cost of that frame rate, if that's your thing. It's only when the game switches to pre-rendered cut-scenes that the edges go fuzzy, but that's no deal breaker, especially when Ratchet & Clank 3 now looks tantalisingly close to the duo's gorgeous PS3 titles in terms of sheer graphical wow factor.

Criticisms are hard to find and even harder to make stick. These are three games that go from good to great in chronological order, updated with care and affection and augmented with the online and social features we've come to expect from AAA console releases of the present day.

This compilation captures Ratchet & Clank at their innovative, genre-bending best. Great games at a great price make for a compelling if disappointingly businesslike package. If you have any fondness for the platforming genre, you owe it to yourself to sample this greatest hits compilation from arguably the last worthy faces to grace the genre.

Wow, Eurogamer is usually one of the toughest sites as far as reviews go. They don't hand out 9's lightly. This collection is definitely a day one purchase. I'm hoping that if the J&D collection doesn't go on sale beforehand that some store will offer a deal if you buy both collections.

I absolutely will. I just know that if I pay full price, which I don't doubt it's worth every penny, it will go on sale a week later. Because I never got it on day one because I knew I wouldn't have the chance to play it, it seemed silly to pay full price. I'm definitely getting it though. I don't doubt that the games are every bit as awesome as the R&C games.
