Rate your team's off-season so far

I know there are still a few moves to be made, but where does your team stand so far this off-season in your eyes?

I've got to give the Orioles an F on principle. Royally screwed up everything with Grant Balfour. Haven't made a huge play for Nelson Cruz. We still have a hole at DH and LF. I do like the Lough addition as a fourth outfielder, but we can't go with a platoon of him and Nolan Reimold. Ryan Webb was a solid depth addition to the bullpen. Jim Johnson given away was a strict salary dump, and we did nothing with those resources.

We didn't even work on extensions for Wieters, David or Machado. I'd even take that out of the Johnson deal, but we didn't even do that. The Orioles started changing perception, but the Johnson dump combined with how they treated Balfour is really going to hurt this team as far as attracting talent. As if we didn't have that problem before now.

A. Only flaw I can point out is giving Jhonny Peralta a fourth year.

Didn't give up any of our young pitching, improved defensively across the board with the trade for Bourjos, strengthened the bench with the signing of Mark Ellis (and also gave Kolten Wong a platoon partner should he struggle with LHP), and even picked up an intriguing outfielder prospect to add to our plethora of them.

Much, much better off-season than last year when Mo put faith in Rafael Furcal returning from injury and signed Ty Wigginton to a two-year deal.

Would have filled three huge holes for the Orioles if they had signed them, so I'd call that great work for the Mets.

I give my Yankees a B+ until they can sign a pitcher, the back end of their rotation consists of a guy who didn't prove himself last year(David Phelps) and a guy who hasn't pitched in the majors since 2011(Michael Pineda) and the bullpen also needs help.

Also talk of Pineda being a reliever at one point, if I'm remembering correctly. I think NYY end up with Tanaka personally, but if not, they'll likely get Garza.

Coming off of the worst two-year stretch in team history. Embarrassing.

Right now i'd say B/B+ and would bump it up to an A if we can sign another pitcher. It's nice to have more cost controlled pitching, and I don't think Trumbo will be that big of a loss. Ibanez is a nice cheap pick to hold us over until CJ Cron is ready. It's nice to have a 1st round pick again too.

I'd say the offseason has been better than that. Got a nice bench bat in McLouth and a solid left handed reliever in Jerry Blevins. All of this without overpaying or trading away any real parts

I don't know, I may have to give the Orioles an upgrade to an E with their huge acquisition of Quintin Berry. Gotta love that 100% stolen base percentage :dd:

Good moves:
1. Re-Signed Uribe (wouldn't believe that would be a good move one year ago...)
2. Signed Dan Haren on a cheap deal
3. Less-than-perfect, but half-decent bullpen signings - Brian Wilson, Jamey Wright, JP Howell
4. Alexander Guerrero to play 2nd base
5. The "OF Logjam" hasn't been "fixed" with what will be a bad trade for the Dodgers.

Bad moves:
1. Chris Perez. Not sure why he was signed - he seems to be in the way of Chris Withrow in the BP deapth chart now. At least it's only one year...
2. Declining Mark Ellis' option. He would've been a great bridge to Guerrero and now this team is without a decent backup 2B in case Guerrero doesn't work out. The IF backups available on the market are pathetic.
3. Non-tender Belisario. He was projected to make 2.5MM in arbitration. He got 3MM from the White Sox. At least trade the guy for a lotto ticket or intl cap money or something.
4. Shawn Tollesson was lost to waivers when there were still 8 spots open on the 40-man roster. The 40th spot is occupied by Seth Rosin, who was acquired in the Rule 5 draft, and the bullpen is too full for Rosin to have a spot. So that means that Rosin will almost certainly go back to Philly and Tollesson, a decent enough RH BP arm who just recovered from injury, was lost to the Rangers for nothing.

Progress Report Grade so far: B+ if only for not making any huge-yet-retarded deals yet. This offseason still has time for great success/disaster depending on how things are handled between the OF, Tanaka, Billingsly, Beckett, and the infield backup positions.
