For real, Wil Myers is going to be a beast in the majors for a long time and all they give up is a pitcher they were going to get rid of within 2 years anyway and a 27-year old pitcher who will be making a lot of money in a couple years, too.

Terrible move for the Royals. I know they needed starting pitching, but not at the expense of Myers. They would have been better off trading some of their current MLB pieces, which they were adamant on not doing. It's just not a smart move, even before you factor in the control over players as well.

Like I said, I wouldn't have included any other prospects and still would not have done the deal. Myers is going to be a stud, and six years of him (plus more if they could sign him to a Longo-type extension) and it's worth more than two years of Shields.
