Redskins Suspend Haynesworth for 4 Games

The Redskins have suspended defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth without pay for the team’s next four games for conduct detrimental to the club.

Haynesworth was notified of the club’s decision this morning by General Manager Bruce Allen at Redskin Park.

Redskins’ head coach Mike Shanahan issued the following statement:

“Despite the club’s numerous attempts to persuade Albert Haynesworth to abide by the terms of his contract, he has repeatedly refused to cooperate with our coaching staff in a variety of ways over an extended period of time. Among other things, he has consistently indicated to our defensive coaches that he refuses to play in our base defense or on first-down or second-down nickel situations. He has also refused to follow the instructions of our coaches both during weekly practices and during actual games as well.

“Yesterday, when Albert was at Redskin Park, he told our General Manager Bruce Allen that he [Haynesworth] would no longer speak with me. Although suspending any player is not a decision that a head coach enters into lightly, I believe the situation has reached the point where the club clearly has no alternative.”

this situation is so fucking retarded. they should have just traded him in the offseason. everyone knew it wouldnt work out then, but Shannahan tried to big dick him and send a message that he wouldnt trade players who pout, then he tried to big dick him with the conditioning test, and all season long he has been small potatoes. whatever message they were trying to say, the only one that came across was "we are totally inept".

The redskins, at any time, had the option to get rid of Haynesworth, and they still havent. this is like that one friend we all have on facebook who constantly bitches about their signifigant others and how terrible that they are treated. the simple solution is to dump the motherfucker and move on with your life. when you hang onto something that makes you unhappy, you have noone to blame but yourself for not doing something about it.

so people are going to come into this thread and blame albert, when he wouldnt be behaving this way if his coaches tried to actually support him instead of constantly punishing him. trade him to a situation that makes him happy, or create one where hes at (and Haynesworth isnt the only player on that defense that is not a fit for the 3-4, most of those guys arent good in the scheme) and he could be the best DT in the league, and if hes still miserable, the redskins dont have to worry about it anymore. this is why Washington sucks. They did the same thing with McNabb benching him in the 4th quarter then giving him piles of money right afterwards. noone put a gun to their head and made them sign those checks.

Ndamkung Suh has taken the spot as the clear #1 DT IMO. Haynesworth just sat on his ass and let it happen. Not the smartest move.

I'd LOVE to have him on the Bears (if he wasn't a dumbass), Tommie Harris wouldn't suck anymore and wouldn't feel the pressure every down. That's just wishful thinking though. He's a lazy ass and that pretty much kills his chances of any team really wanting him...except for the Bengals.

Suh is among the best as an interior pass rusher but isn't great against the run. He has moments where he's actually pretty average against the run. To call Suh the best DT in the NFL is pre-mature and wrong. Guys like Kyle Williams, Vince Wilfork, Haloti Ngata, Jason Jones, Richard Seymour, and Kevin Williams I would all take before Suh.

Professionals in every other avenue except for the NFL get to quit their jobs when they dont like it. as I have posted tirelessly on this subject, they gave him mega bucks to come in and do something, then asked him to do something completely different. they signed him to a crown jewel pass rushing DT, and knowing his temperment, knowing exactly what would happen if they fucked with him, asked him to take up blockers.

that mike golic shit was a glorified nutrasystem ad. Mike was/is in the best shape of his life. no way Mike could have passed it in his playing days. Independent of what some shitty ESPN personality did (and Mike did it just as much to get his name in the press, but im digressing) noone else on the team was required to pass it. if Washington wanted some kind of legitimacy to that shit, they would have made all their players pass it, or at the very least all their D linemen. instead it was just Haynesworth. even the "passing" was shady ; it was "passed" in an early morning practice with no media there and only between Mike and Al.

Maybe if the coaches weren't such bitches they would have cut him by now. They knew this was going to be a major distraction, but instead of just saying "k, you dont want to be here, GTFO" and cutting the guy, they tried to play hardball. they tried to one up him. they tried to send a message by keeping him on the team, but the only message they sent was ineptitude.

An organization that is run well would have said "peace out then, bitch" and dumped him off. That's what Belichek did with Moss. Flip out? put yourself above the team? k whatever get the fuck out. this is why Belichek is who he is, and this is why Shanahan hasn't won a fucking thing without John Elway. if you want to stand up to a player, you do it by kicking him the fuck out of the locker room and removing the distraction. Now, the Patriots are in full on "fuck you" mode and look like the best team in football. Meanwhile the Redskins, in some kind of effort to show that Mike's dick is bigger than Als, have had this distraction all season long. Even the justification that Washington was trying to get something for him is a stupid one, because in this pissing contest between those two men, Haynesworth value is a fraction of what it was in the offseason, when they could have dumped him and snagged a 2nd or 3rd rounder for him. Now they'll be lucky to get a 5th since everyone knows they are cutting him anyway.
