Report: Rams Interested in Brett Favre; not Tebow

I would sign Tebow, start Clemens next week, then start Tebow immediately. Why the hell not? There is nothing to lose, and at least the team would have some juice. One year deal, let him play and potentially earn his way onto the team as a reserve next season. If he stinks, you cut ties, no harm, no foul.

There is no point handing the team over to Kellen Clemens. Clemens is fine as a #2, the kind of backup who you keep around if you have a kid as your #3 who you don't trust to enter a game for a series or two if the starter is injured, or to finish off a game if the starter is seriously injured. But if you are in a position where the starter is toast, Clemens is not a guy you play. You play the young #3 and Clemens remains the backup if things fall apart.

The problem, is the Rams have no young #3. They don't have a #3 at all. Even on the practice squad. The only QB is Clemens.

With Fisher coming out so strongly against signing Tebow, it kind of makes you distrust these NFL insiders, who clearly toss Tebow's name around simply to garner attention/page hits/mentions.

With that said, the Rams have been linked to Tebow in the past during the Fisher era. And nobody in the organization denied it the first time around. It died on the vine because the Broncos allowed Tebow to call his shot and he wasn't going to choose a place where he couldn't realistically compete for a job.

I'm not going to argue the merits of signing Tebow for each of these teams. But for all ten of them, they're losing, the current starter clearly isn't the answer. Unless they're trying to tank, why not sign Tebow who has been a total success at every stage of his career.

gooby seems confused...tebow is not a better QB than anyone. he is a better RB than many of the starting QB's in the NFL...but his problem, and some seem to think its a biggin....tebow cant throw.

Tebow is the ultimate wild card...he is talked about because you have no idea what you'll get from him when the lights come on. Its already been established he is a terrible practice player...but so was Jeff Garcia, notorious even. We all know Tebow is not what you want in a quarterback...but, he has done nothing but show he might have some magic in that old silk hat of his...he went on a great run with the Broncos...and then...poof, gone.

We already know what we get in Kellen Clemens...he's your token backup that you never want to play.

With Tebow, there is still a shroud of mystery on what you get with him...everyone knows he is a terrible QB, but, that next pass is either going in the dirt or going for six. Fans like that and when you're dead in the water with a ho-hum backup or you already have a shit QB, what is the risk of putting Tebow in...if you lose, you are losing with the likes of Kellen Clemens anyway...but what if you win? What is the worst that could happen here?

Honestly, with the Ram's RB depth, it could be interesting to see what kind of offensive schemes could be built around Tebow. 0/1 WR sets with 2-3 running backs/Tavon Austin and Tebow could be entertaining if nothing else. Wildcat/Maryland I/Wishbone would all be pretty interesting, and would open a lot of passing lanes within those sets to Tight Ends in particular. Tebow can only throw about 10 yards accurately and broken TE outs are reliable. The team already stinks, so what is there really to lose?
